maybe you can see.. imo the 'more thorough' definition of 'chrome' is ~'bling,' junk to be left behind, like life. ergo the sensual faces with the eyes and lips cut out, or disembodied eyes and lips like mayan heads.

i think most people aren't able to understand this in their present condition. it's not a profitable notion, so we've rubbed it out.

helios creed and chrome are very different. shortly before death, damon wrote an emphatic letter to this point.. notice the long history of "feat. damon edge" records that are benignly forgettable..

..kind of like the above artwork. it communicates, but the crooked placement doesn't indicate 'professional/endearing production.'

that's damon.. helios was on 3 of the.. 18 chrome albums..

One of my favorite Alphaville albums, produced by Klaus Schulze if I remember correctly.

That's my favorite Chrome piece. Every time I hear it I think about how the progress of rock hasn't lived up to its promise. This hinted at a direction that seems to have been largely abandoned. Chrome lives on only in the dirty allies of music geekdom. They sadly are forgotten even those with more adventursome tastes. Spread the word.

This tune was on Subterranean Modern, a compilation of Ralph Records bands (Chrome, The Residents, MX-80 Sound, Tuxedomoon). Each band did a cover of (I Left My Heart) In San Francisco along with a few other songs. Chrome also did Lady In Pain, another incredibly excellent song.

Of course, and I imagine VicDiesel was aware of that as well... but since the acknowledgement of that fact sort of took some of the bite out of his argument and my ridicule, I think we both were conveniently ignoring that technicality...

 :hihi:
It only seems slow because I'm guessing it's just a bunch of gibberish to your ears! :D But to a Japanese-speaking synth-novice, I would think it was very intriguing and just the right speed...
The Chase wrote:Whatever that song was awesome!
Notice your use of the past tense "was"? Are you admitting it sucks now? :hihi: I think that because it may have been really innovative for the time and genre, most people (mainly synth-enthusiasts) tend to romanticize the hell of that track, just like they do with Kraftwerk... I know I'm going to be run out of town on a rail for saying this but as much as I respect Kraftwerk for being the great pioneers of electronic music, their stuff just leaves me cold and is damn-near entirely unlistenable IMHO... but YMMV...
VicDiesel wrote:What I was getting at is that for all the energy with which I see people hacking away at guitars and drums, way too many links are of music that is almost completely devoid of any sort of groove.
I would tend to agree... although the concept of "groove" can be rather subjective... that Seeds video that Voivoid used in his sig for awhile had a TON of "groove", as evidenced by that blonde chick's swank dance-moves!
VicDiesel wrote:If it then doesn't have some form of gut level appeal, then I wonder what's the point.
Again, I would tend to agree... although again, I think we're talking about very subjective qualities here... just as there's different strokes for different folks, there's also different (gut-level) appeals for different Schmiels... :hihi:

I seem to remember seeing them tacked onto the end of a Bauhaus video a loooong time ago. 8)

um...like a frisbee with DX7's and Linn drums?

the two are so different I hadn't made the connection until it was pointed out to me a couple of years ago...

This is a little dumb but it's the Dickies so what would you expect? :hihi:

It starts with a short news piece on the band and then devolves into a homemade video of them lip-synching to "My Sharona"... but check out Leonard's slick moves with that blow-up doll! :-o
