I found a copy of XMastube ... unfortunately it crashes both my hosts when I load it
You could have ask me for XmasTube,
because that is the only right way to get a copy of it.

The .dll alone is not enough to run XmasTube.
SO, any news?

Install:

Simply unpack the included folder into your
VSTpluginfolder, that all.
(You NEED the whole folder for the plugin to work.)

xmas tube is niiiiiiiiiiiiice. i've yet to hear a tone this good coming from a vst. if this is any hint of what's to come, then it'll be well worth the wait.

Is it still possible to obtain XMasTube? Midiworks? The samples sound pretty good, so I'd like to try it out myself.

Not till Christmas time unfortunately. (Jews need not apply).

Hey, are there any guitar players that can tell me what the distance should be between strings and humbuckers, in mm please...

If your pickups are active - strings should be as close as possible (obviously when your string is vibrating it can't touch the pickup or it will buzz).

If the pickups are passive it depends on how strong are their magnets, very strong magnets will pull your strings down and slightly change pitch, intonation and lower sustain.

High E at the bridge 1.5mm
Low E at the bridge 2mm
At the neck 2mm-2.5mm

These are general guides, do final adjustments by ear.
Also adjust the individual pole screws (if available) to achive equal volume among all strings.

too many variables to give a precise enough measure imo...you adjust them until they're right  note that means right for you...;)
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

You must've missed the lesser known HanukkahTube. It had a gain knob in the shape of a dreidel.

Right now my distances are 5 mm. I didn't know you could get that close!

Active pickups:
1. Fret the string at at your highest fret.
2. Pick the string slightly harder than usually.
3. If the string doesn't hit the pickup it is far enough.
4. If the string hits the pickup it is too close.

Clear ?

Passive pickups:
1. Fret the string at at your highest fret.
2. Pick the string slightly harder than usually.
3. If the string doesn't hit the pickup it is far enough.
4. If the string hits the pickup it is too close.
5. If the string is too far, sustain time will be lower.
6. If the string is too close, it will be pulled so hard by magnetic field of the pickup that it's vibration will be slowed down and because of that it's sustain time will be lower (imagine a piece of rubber constantly pulling the string to the center position).
7. If the string is too close it will be constantly bent by your pickups magnets (bent string = longer string so you will have to adjust intonation).

Clear ?

Yes, very clear!

Thanks for the explaining.
BTW, I got passice humbuckers; a cheap one and a Seymour Duncan Jeff Beck model.
Even with it's 5 mm distance it sound very good already.

Now all I need is a great ampsim!
