Slainte, what's the verdict on SFX Machine? Worth the money? Great to experiment and get wicked results with? ..and what is actually the difference between RT and Pro? Less tweakage?

..and I'm watching the artillery video now, looks very sweet!

Oddly there are lots of plugins that are several effects in one, but there aren't a lot that are like the preset-based digital hardware units, which were always kind of the general midi modules of the effects world. The SFXMachine is like that, but personally I've never been overwhelmed by its quality. I guess the massive guitar market effects like Amplitude and Guitar Rig fill that roll these days, or the many modulars (my preference)

In terms of a spectral multi effect, I'd opt for Bidule over SpectrumWorx. I just think Bidule is more flexible (being modular) and has a better quality FFT/iFFT conversion.

Great input, thx! :)

Yeah, no kidding!
I've never, ever heard of Vogue or Robotronics either.
I'm glad I read this.

if youre not a tweaker then the older RT might do you ... the new pro SFX machine allows you to tweak deeper and actually build your own setups in SFX machine ...

... SFX machine (either version) is definitely NOT your bread and butter multi-FX though ... much more of an FSU machine IMHO ...

(and its just rob BTW ... 'slainte' just means 'cheers' or 'good health' in gaelic)

Sliding into the number one position on pHz's Top 5 Mumbles Phrases for the first time this week is "More...! More precious manga! More manga! Ooooooooooh!"

:-o

pHz: the only FSU Mod.

It's bad enough you're so crazy, you don't have to drive other trolls crazy, too.

As a couple of people have mentioned, you might want to check out CamelSpace and/or CamelPhat. People round here seem to like them, and they've received glowing reviews and awards from lots of mags. Demo mp3s, free demo version and more info over here:

http://www.camelaudio.com/camelspace.php
http://www.camelaudio.com/camelphat.php

You can get one for $85, or both for $149.

Thanks
Ben

Hmm, I might have spotted a trend. Seems in your honest opinion most/all effects are FSU machines.

You may want to actually make out a list of what effect you require in your multifx and then look into the things that've been posted. What little I've gotten to play with CamelSpace I find it absolutely amazing but I'm pretty sure it doesn't make envelope-following RingModulation like SFX Machine does ;)
Whereas Camel's reverb is vastly better sounding that SFX echoes.
