OK, let me ask a dumb question- will the Z1 patches work in Z2? :?:
Nope.

I always wanted to start writing a conversion utility, but even if I had the time, it's close to impossible to get them over 1:1. Even if it was possible to convert the structure and everything, you'd have to manually try to get the same sound. Z2's oscillators simply have a different timbre and many many modules sound/work completely different.

That's why Z1 and Z2 appear like different plugins to the host software so that you can still open old projects with Z1.5...

I'm bummed that I can't use Zebra 1.5 presets (and tweaks to presets) with Z2 - having just bought Zebra last winter and now having upgraded my studio to an Intel iMac. Since you seem to have no plans to make 1.5 into a UB, this makes my purchase pretty much useless unless I spend a couple of months reprogramming each preset I want to bring into Z2 from 1.5, by looking at every parameter in the 1.5 presets and then entering them in manually into the Z2 fields to the extent that that is even possible. I had hoped to finish a number of tunes this summer which used Z 1.5 extensively. Now it looks like my work is orphaned.

It looks like I will just have to take the tracks I created on my G4 laptop with Z 1.5 and freeze them to static audio tracks there and then import those audio tracks into the sequencers on the iMac, losing any ability to further tweak them.

Thanks. Scheisse.

Kai,

I *will* port Zebra 1.5 to Universal Binary. Always said so. No need to worry.

However, I want to have Z2 up and running first.

Urs, are you going to port FilterScape? :)

Post

Yes, sure...

Hi Urs.

Its so refreshing to see a developer be so directly involved as you are in this thread.

May I ask you please, what are the limitations of this beta version?

Also, what is the approximate price you will charge when z2 is out?

Thanks and good luck..

Post

Hey Womoma,

the demo limitations are already perceivable in the preview: After 12 minutes of usage, it plays a progression of c-e-b-r-a rather than the note you want it to play, where r is a random note ;)

The final price stays stable at 199$, just like Zebra1.5

Cheers,

;) Urs

Any approximate release date? :hyper:

( I still need to pack up my Zebra 2 presets and send them to you! I'm pretty happy with some of them BTW! )

Urs shyly asks for bug reports:

Just the Audio Unit, works on PPC and Intel Macs, OS X 10.3.9 and up

P.S.: VST Versions follow shortly, when the temperature at my workspace sinks below 35° Celsius

This is the first Audio unit version I have tried so not sure how it is supposed to work. Using it in Live 5.2 OSX G5. When I save a preset it shows up in the plug-in devices list in the Live browser, but it does not show up in the Zebra presets...

attack smoothing works nice :)

Nice to see saved presets for MSEG... same thing for osc :)

ahhh... I found the presets... they went under 'local' instead of 'user' which I had selected
