Yup, eXT is forever my one and only host, and I love the modularity. I've got both the classic series and the GVST series, and they're both great for experimenting.. I really should donate some to those lads for giving away such wonderful stuff..

I actually did a cool setup earlier today feeding VAZ+ and L3 to GSnap, FilterBank2 and Classic Master Limiter.. Lemme dig up that mp3...

I think quantum fx 2 is the baddest all in one multi effecter around (imo). and believe it to be better then others by faaaaaar. After Qfx2 i'd look at izotope spectron/trash, Antares filter,psp nitro,kjaerhus golden modulator etc etc But Qfx has more capability then all those i've named put together and probably more than what everyone here has mentioned put together if a all in one solution is what your looking for.Only other comparable solution i can think of is Reaktor.Just my 2 cents.

Glad you liked CamelSpace You can make the step sequencer control the ring modulation though - which is pretty cool, even if CamelSpace doesn't have an enveloper follower. In CamelPhat you can do exactly that - get an envelope follower to control the ring modulation.

This example contains the original sound followed by a variety of effected versions - and one of the later ones involves ring mod:

In my multi-FX folder: E-Fex Modulator, Groove Analogizer, Metallurgy, Scarbee KBFX and Ronin (which might strictly not belong there).
And of course most OhmForce plugins do several things in a weird way ...

I can second E-Fex Modulator...and any of the Prodyon effects for that matter. Excellent stuff there. Very affordable as well.

Totally off topic again, I'm afraid.

I was off on a mission to find the Maori version of "cheers"...which was a follow on from the thing about "slainte" in PHz's sig. Then there was Kanpai...which is similar to Kapai (which in Maori means..."sweet as" I suppose is the nearest thing. i.e. everything is hunky dory when it's kapai...)

So I was off looking for the correct word for "cheers" if even there is one in Maori, and I came across a site with a forum ( http://www.maori.org.nz ) and some topics with some useful phrases to sign off letters with etc...and one of them was this...


"Kia hora te marino, kia whakapapa pounamu te moana,
Kia tere karohirohi i mua i tou huarahi."

which apparently translates as...

"May calm be spread around you, may the sea glisten like greenstone and the shimmer of summer dance across your path."


Not something I'd tend to sign off a letter with, but nevertheless it's a beautiful little sentiment, innit?

(Actually I'm not sure that translation is that accurate. I know whakapapa is your family history/roots, but for sure pounamu and moana are greenstone(jade) and beach respectively. But for all I know, it could mean something like "may my greenstone axe chop off the heads of all your ancestors and roll into the sea, there to rot for all eternity..." But I prefer the shimmering summer bit...

Oh yeah...I personally use CamelSpace as the first goto multiFX sweetener for some instant effect - especially for dub drumloops and funky filtering, and QuantumFX2 for the more esoteric out-there type mutilation. An unbeatable combination, and I haven't bothered looking for multiFX since I acquired those two a while back. I had that Luxonix thing for a while...nice, but doesn't live in the same ball park as QFX and CamelSpace IMO.

QFX2 is not for the faint-hearted for the deep stuff, but it does have some lovely presets as is. It's more one for serious sessions when you want something very specific and not run-of-the-mill. Whereas CamelSapce really is an instant gratification tool. I can't get enough of CamelSpace...for me it's one of the few perfect tools for dub (not enough on it's own though...). It gets used on drums, instruments, pads, the odd vocal snippets, and is useful for just fattening sounds and making them bigger, without over-FX'ing them. The saturation and enhancer is a neat FX all on its own.

I've only tried the limited free version. Some of the effects in it are a little rough around the edges (some get clicky/static-y very easily). Also there isn't a particular deep modulation scheme (only modulators are those built in to certain effects like the chorus and the autopan). And there doesn't appear to be any BPM sync options for things like LFOs or delay time. Things like the delay's feedback seems to reset itself any time you adjust a parameter, which is also a bit futzy to work with.
