but you could encode a mono signal at 2x sample rate, interleaved across the 2 stereo outputs of a plugin. Quite what you'd do with that though, i'm not sure... ;)

From my experience Fruity Vocoder is just about in that range band- and CPU-wise... and it sounds okay/acceptable to me... but I imagine yours could be even better sound-wise... :wink:

yep, 32 quality bandpass filters -> envelope followers to all bands -> multiplying yet another 32 bandpasses + additional sibilance sidechaining = CPU hog pig monster. oversample all that and it's goodbye to 2-3ghz of pure processing power.

but I bet it'll sound a lot like those Sennheisers, too. :wink: It's only barely practical at this stage of native DSP power, unfortunately.

But hey, it was barely practical even back in the day as analog implementation as well. Not a whole lot of them was ever built due to it being so expensive to produce.
