aciddose i'm not sure what you are trying to say, but i meant what i said.

do you mean that i am wrong and that i cannot see from AQ's perspective? if so, no that is not the case, because i have empathy for AQ. he has to feel quite intimidated by gol, i know i would be(this is the empathic bit), because gol is an excellent and proven coder. i also feel for him in that i too am passionate about the things i invest my time and blood and sweat into. i feel for him on many many levels, and i was genuinely trying to help him out by posting what i did. now that he's screamed at me like an obnoxious lunatic, i wont bother trying anymore. it's futile.

it is horribly shitty when something you love and have put so much of your heart into is shat on and tossed aside or minimalized/reduced with only it's flaws emphasized and it's strengths not mentioned.

i feel for AQ alot, i know he cares about his work, and at this stage of the conversation/thread/war/whatever, it's reaching a point of no return where AQ is going to, perhaps by no fault of his own, blemish his reputation and jeopardize future business. i for one personally dont care what devs say to each other as it relates to buying or not buying some product they create (i point you to the tone2/refx war that was professionally avoided in the refx nexus thread), so it's not going to hurt business for them or lose my sale, however there are quite a few here watching that would probably add AQ or gol or both to their developer twitlist in spite of this whole mess.

that it's nothing personal, but when people act in such a manner, it is very easy to emphasize only that part of the person, disqualifying all of their accomplishments and virtues in one fell-swoop because of their actions.

the saddest part of this is that both were trying to help in their own way i think.

Post

This thread has been entertaining... Lesson learned so far.

Effects are not used all of the time. (a compressor insert on backing vocals for the chorus for instance), so automatic disabling makes a lot of sense.

Some people should take few breaths, walk around the block, enjoy the nature or something instead of being super-upset (and act retarded) on an internet forum...

You just admitted tony is wrong (gol? let's call people by their handles please... you're obviously his personal friend or something.) And he was -- about the x-mod thing anyway, and the 32 bit thing as well (except in certain cases which weren't pertinent to the application of TSV's work). We're still discussing the silence-bypass so no wrong or right there.

But you'd suggest that the reason I shouldn't point out that he's wrong, is that's he's too stubborn to get it? So, no arguing with tony, everything that comes out of his mouth is gospel and even if he's wrong, he's just too consistently dense to ever dare attempt to refute. Yup... you've got your head pretty far up his ass. Too bad, I was about to do some testing of the NFR of Maise that your partner sent me yesterday... not now.
just wanted to point out that statement discribes itself..
He's saying you're a hypocrite.

Correct me if I'm wrong AD, your grammar on that one did leave a little to be desired. ;) Thanks tho'.

Grymm, if you took the interest to read back on the earlier posts and threads that I was good enough to reference (as opposed to mis-quoting in my own favour as tony does) you'd see who started this. But like I said, if you take tony/gol's lies as gospel and don't even bother to check what I'm talking about, then I'm going to look bad. So that's all I've been trying to do... defend against this crap. I give you all the material you need, but you admit that you didn't even read it. So shut up. You're just echoing the other asshole's lies and that makes you no better than him.

I'll REALLY be missing all the sales I lose to you. Or anyone who thinks that because I'm pissed off at a stubborn twit who talks about stuff he doesn't know, that it somehow makes my product less valuable? I've said it before on this board... I WANT to buy software built by mean pricks. Us mean pricks do good work.

And no, sorry, I never new who "Gol" was until he posted intentionally bad demos of my product on the FLStudio site. He didn't WANT to make a good sound...and set out to prove he coudl make a bad one (there's A.I. in FLStudio that prevents users making anything but high-art.)

He's your hero, not mine.

And there's nothing "schoolyard" about what I've been saying (well sure, the FruitLoops box was a tease... to try to lighten things up in here. What's in a name anyway? At best, the only serious point to be made about THAT is that his company is naive when it comes to trademark issues. Possibly other things too... like developer hiring... but I admit that's pure speculative extrapolation.)

But I've been needlessly attacked by someone I was trying to help, and to teach some history too. Set up... trolled...whatever you want to call it. Go read that X-mod thread and see for yourself what an ass tony was being. Others were trying to point it out too (thanks again Totc, et al.) And now he follows me into other threads, so I dragged it in here as a courtesy to others. But I'm the bad guy? Fine. If that's how you want to position yourself, but YOU put yourself there. Not me.

I've CLEARLY refuted every lie that he's made about me. But if you buy his mis-quotes, and repeat them, then you're going to get treated like him. It's YOU with the schoolyard methodology.

So enjoy the smell up there. And the view.

Post

thanks tony, nollock and aciddose. I'm going to implement that right now. Seems like per sample methods would work with my current DSP gadgets really well.

Post

you probably dont need to use a very long decay time if there isnt any overhead for switching between processing and bypass modes. i forgot to include "abs(signal)" in my psuedo code though, dont forget that.

about the argument going on here, i was going to say ultimately there is no real logical definition for what is 'correct' or 'incorrect', and all human knowledge amounts only to a collection of points of view based upon access to limited data sets. it is best not to get too worked up about things.

if you're in a discussion and you notice something someone has said is wrong, you should try to correct them in a suggestive manner rather than an assertive one. if they respond to a suggestive point of view with hostile behaviour, flop out your member and give them a tap on the chin.

actually that last paragraph was about your own idiocy and stubborness and about you being such a twat and acting like a little child, not about gol being stubborn.

no you've both misunderstood me, i think aciddose misunderstood that the last paragraph was not directed at you AQ, but at gol.
and maise has nothing to do with me, i'm not partners with anyone, so get your facts straight there. i helped him with the graphics, but that's it. in fact recently i gave away the source PSDs so someone else could do the stuff since i had no time to continue helping.
but now that i've been dragged into this and used as a shield by you to evade the real topic i know what to expect from you in the future so i wont bother to say anything, especially if it's disagreeing with your own opinion.

my head is not up anyones ass. it's just a fact, gol's successful. gol has a proven record of expertise, and thus his words have a bit more authority than yours.

what have you done, AQ, besides made a couple overly CPU hungry plugs, which you spaz out about whenever someone says they are CPU hungry, and some gigantic interfaces that took you weeks and weeks to perfect? oh and let's not forget running around KVR talking big shit about it all.

sorry, gol has you on the programming merit he brings to the table alone. but his own behavior has been very civil, unlike your behavior which is the antithesis of professional.

i wasn't sticking up for gol, simply pointed out that your behavior is obnoxious, arrogant, rude, and beligerant, for no reason. this is about you not him. atleast as it relates to my involvement here, trying to help you see your own behavior.

i dont care to read it because it's going to be more of the same. you running on flapping your arms shouting insults at everyone else who disagrees with you. there is nothing there that will interest me. i dont care if gol is wrong, my posts are directed at your own behavior, calm down, little one.

i hadn't considered buying your shit anyway, but your attitude, as i've stated in prior posts dont influence me either way. the fact that they are going to eat my CPU for breakfast, however, does, and the fact that you dont care to reel in the CPU hunger. once again you are being a total jerk to someone for disagreeing with you.

and here you are calling gol names:

That's what I tried to do in the original osc X-mod thread. Like I said it took a while for me to turn on him... he had to get REAL difficult first. But he obviously had his mind made up that he knew better than everyone else, including the pioneers of analog synthesis, even before he knew what it was he was talking about. And what's REALLY scary, is he STILL thinks it. This guy admits he's hardly ever touched a real synth, yet voices strong opinions like "oscillator cross-mod of the filter just makes useless noise", when we ALL know that it's actually one of the coolest things you can do with your synth.

But that doesn't stop him from coding a synth. Well... knowing a lot about synths didn't stop me from learning how to write code either. But I'm glad I have the synth background. Though actually, I was coding in my early teens too, at the exact same time I was getting into synths. The first audio programming I ever did was programming a chord organ on my TI-994a and drawing FM and additive waveforms on-screen on an Atari.

But being smart at ONE thing (programming, which I'm sure tony is) doesn't necessarily make you smart at another thing, or your daft opinion any more valid. And it's THIS that's pissing me off. Speak when you know about something. Shut up and listen when you don't. (Not you AD, I mean them... or, everybody really. Rules to live by.)

"When I have nothing to say, my lips are sealed."

And well grymmjack... you have a credit in the Maize Studio (pardon my spelling mistake before) about-box. Looks to me like you had SOMETHING to do with it.

:|

You assert I'm a twat Grymm, but you don't provide a single reason why (nothing you're not being a hypocrite about certainly). At worst, I've called a twit a twit. And now you're doing exactly what tony does... spreading misinformation about my product, and having a kneejerk response, and not doing your research before you open your mouth. SCAMP isCPU hungry because it sounds better. I say that unapologetically and my customers appreciate it BECAUSE of that. If you don't want to sound better than some other envelope follower you like, use that instead. Of course! It's not about how much processor it uses... music is about the SOUND. If a plugin uses 250% of my CPU power... that's not an issue if I want it's sound. I'll workaround with a stand-in and render it in non-real time. Or something. Point is, you don't GET the point. Music. Sound. You think this is about computers, and it's not. Computers are a means to an end.

PLEASE mute me. If I could filter you as a viewer I'd hit the button now.

:hihi:

ok, here it is again; i don't have to say anything to assert your twat-ness, just read your own posts in seeming defensive retalliation to my own posts that you seem to feel are 'out to get your product'. talk about paranoia man.

i even posted a reply that was full-on genuine about how i have empathy for you in this, but it still doesn't excuse your behavior. you called a twit a twit, fine. i'll call you out and expose your obnoxious tantrum and call a twat a twat.

if i have credits in the about box, doesn't make me a partner. i honestly believe somehow that you mean well AQ but are very misunderstood, and when this happens you get frustrated and because you cannot articulate properly how you feel, the entire vicious cycle repeats itself: misunderstand you -> you freak out -> try to understand -> you freak out -> misunderstand you.

i'm a firm believer in the office space theory that engineers shouldn't talk to people, and that there should be people to deal with the customers between the engineers and the customers themselves (that's what the guy in office space did - he took the plans from the people to the engineers).

anyway, i'm not going to mute you, but after what your threat/jab about maize and the NFR copy, which i had no idea was even happening yet since as i said i've stopped helping on and have been out of that loop, that's the kind of schoolyard shit i'm talking about. 'oh yeah? well i wont play with your ball! hows that?! it's my ball! i wont let my ball with your ball!' .. wtf? this is what i was trying to point out but it's futile man.

i'll just move on and forget this conversation happened. you should really know though that i wasn't taking sides or trying to make your products look bad. i wasn't taking gols word over your own besides that he tried your plug on his SUPERIOR computer (to my own) and it ate 15% as a default CPU. who can deny that? that's the only time i've mentioned your stuff. so please stop being paranoid, as i have much better things to do with my time than slander your product which up until today i've had no interest in to bother with, and i'm sure the same is probably true with other people.

i dont wish you illwill, and i apologize, humbly and wholeheartedly for trying to help you by giving you a window to admit that you were being (and i quote you) a 'mean prick'.

good luck with your software.

Thanks for the sentiment asomers, I tried it, but the physics model was porked. ;)

I will admit:

1. I have a lot on my mind this week. Really bad stuff. Possibly an announcement coming in that regard when I know for sure what's happening.

2. It's a disgustingly hot and humid day here in Toronto.

But it was nice yesterday, when tony pissed me off originally.

And I've tried several times to declare a cease-fire. It's almost enough to make a person understand the mid-east situation.

Anyway, peace.

EDIT: Oh and Grymm, I changed my mind and decided to test Maize anyway cuz I'm just feeling too shitty now to work. Can't speak about it obviously, but will talk to Hawk. Sorry (about SOME things).

EDIT2: Oh and Grymm, read the f**king INSTRUCTIONS. Bypass channels 3-6 if they're active in your host. This is what I mean by knee-jerk. People who WANT to be disappointed will usually achieve it.

dude, i dont even have scamp, i'm good filter wise (tone2 bifilter has me covered there), but if i ever do use it i will rtfm.

do they have 7-11's there? if so go to one, get a huge slurpee (frozen coke -- cocacola flavor/syrup mixed in with shaved ice) and drink it slow because it can kink up on you and cause brainfreeze.

OH, sorry I thought I read that YOU tried it. Well now you see, you're just quoting tony as gospel again. Tony lies. He got the results he wanted to get. (And when he tried it again, did he post a figure then? Nooooooo....)

I think you have too much respect for that little shit. Read the cross-mod thread. Please.

I gave up coke and sugar a few years back. I get my caffiene lately from green tea. Lots of fridge water though... but it's not making things any less slimy.

Peace dude. I'm getting tired.
