I do. In each little part.Hink wrote: (I think your music is good, but I do not hear any tones that "blow away" my tones)
I can use a cab that sounds twangy, has a bottom heavy sound, a midrange sound...can you?
Probably not.Yes, by micing things up differently. And, others than with a POD (which I quite like, more on that later), it doesn't sound like a wannabe-mic-movement.
can you say state with fact any part of any song that would of sounded better had I used your Boogie, my old Boogie, my old Marshall plexi, my Marshall tube rig?
But that's got other reasons, sorry.
I'm absolutely anti-snob as well, but I'm sick of people telling you can get a great tone from amp sims, yet I've never heard anything like that coming from them.Don't get me wrong, I'm not anti-tube amp...but I am anti-snob and I'm sick of this bullshit that a tube amp is better...
And I'm absolutely sorry for saying this, but I have to: I wouldn't want a single tone from the recordings on your site, but I'd gladly take Empty Uranus' tone any day.
Your opinion may vary, but this is mine.
Anyways, a few more things coming to my mind:
- Can you get an authentic (authentic as in "sounding like a Plexi") amp sound from amp sims? Most likely you can't.
- Can you get a great sound from amp sims? Yes. At least for some sounds.
- Can you go all crazy with amp sims? Defenitely yes.
I'm just getting incredibly sick of all those software companies trying to sell me things as Plexis, Rectifiers and whatever. They just don't even sound remotely close.
Why don't they just call their models "clean", "gain" and "higain" amp? That way I would at least not being forced to believe it'd sound like something "famous". Listen to GR2's "Gratifier". It's not even a bad amp, but trying to make people believe it'd resemble a Rectifier is just an utterly sad joke. In case they had it looking different and used another name, I probably wouldn't care at all. But as is, it's just laughable.
Anyways, I'm using amp sims EXACTLY for what they're doing best: Being convenient and allowing for crazy stuff that is. And I'm using real amps EXACTLY for what they're doing best: Offering a great "traditional" guitar tone that is.
Things may change and right now I'm opting for some hybrid setup, but just last week I played a gig with my Mark IV (didn't use it for a while) and I can just tell you that it's been night and day, compared to all sorts of programmable, digital, simulated stuff (which I'm using more often, for the convenience part of it).
