Hmm. I tested all the LFO's in one patch and I definitely didn't see this problem. Rand Glide is
right, comparing the two waveforms there is a clear difference, but random glide is still different, it's "jumpy" now.
i have some patches where i had it modulate some parameters smoothly, to add liveliness.
but now those modulations are not smooth anymore, and so the just don't make sense, so i still consider it a bug.

Oh, I really didn't get used to them in the previous version because I've had this for so little time. Well, now the random glide sounds like the glide time is varying depending on the interval maybe, and it was constant before?

Oh well, Urs will probably explain... (And add option for both behaviours if this indeed is the case, haha.)

Well, I havn't checked that one out... seems strange, but then, I did a lot of stuff in respect of any sort of modulation (i.e. adjusted LFOs to do true 4-sample granularity instead of interpolating between 16 samples). Might be a bug that just went in.

Good news: I'm setting up a workspace at my grrrls place. Just havn't found a cheap monitor and the MBP's screen is a bit small to what I'm used to for development. But that'll probably change next week.

hmmm...

The arpeggiator seems to be messed up. If I play an arpeggiated preset, it is all distorted and wierd. If I create a new one, the same. Turn off the arpeggiator and the preset sound returns to normal. Happens on both the AU and VST version...

edit - happens in both Live and Tracktion...

Post

try very short sounds, do they work in arp-mode?
i guess the arp does not do "chords" at the moment ;)

yeahh.. area-51 back up :D

Yeah, if the release of the sound is long enough that it is still sounding when the next note hits or there are multiple notes selected... ouch

otherwise the arp is arpy

Post

btw... would be nice to have presets for the arp same like the MSEG and OSC... It does take a while to copy the arp from one sound over to another sound...

Speaking of the arp, here is a clip using 1 Zebra arp preset, part of something I'm working on for a radio show.

Ha, that's pretty cacofonic. But really, is it just me or is Zebra2 generally a really good sounding synth? And in very different kinds of sounds aswell. I don't understand how it can be, but no matter - I like it. Mysterious, Urs must have some kind of ufo-knowledge he's not telling about!

zebras raw sound is just great, and zebras extreme flexibility makes that raw quality usable in all types of sounds.
it will become famous because of ist's soundscaping abilities i guess, but personally i love creating bass and keyboard sounds :)

Yo, there's something weird going on with the Arp and Envelope release times. Gonna check that out.

Don't wanna be bragging, but I'll let you in on a secret regarding sound quality: If you play a sawtooth at 40Hz (below hearing) it has still got a frequency range up to 19kHz. That makes oscs a bit more expensive on cpu, but when you a/b that with others, you'll just hear the difference. Other oscs will suffer from a lower frequency cut that adds annoying ringing or whatever. Another thing to brag with is the lossless fractional delay algorithm that drives comb filters, delays, chorus and reverb. Put reverb feedback to 100.00 set damp to 0.00, play a note, go on 14 day vacation and the reverb will still be the same spectrum when you come back (havn't tried it, but it should be).

Later,

;) urs

Yeah, Zebra is just so versatile. Maybe you are right about being famous for soundscapes. I think it is unsurpassed in that regard. But maybe it will be famous for being one of the allround best synths money can buy.
I've enjoyed some of your presets!

Here is another clip... Zebra, 1 preset

It's a moog with tentacles.

Can't wait to get home and listen to stuff through my monitors...

Regarding Arp presets... I'm still looking for a good concept for that. It's a different matter than the other module presets because the module that does it is way bigger than just the Arp. It also does Microtuning and a whole lot of other things that deal with voices. So I have to come up with something like partial module presets... we'll see...

Later,

;) Urs
