Looks like a midi loop back driver combined with some kind of ASIO intercepting, or a an ASIO loop back driver.
Not sure it fits the description.

it looks like a app that allows you to run non vst apps as vst's to me

More like the other way around, It allows you to get VST's in to ASIO apps that don't support them.

Unless they make a VST that interfaces with the loop back drivers.. that would be neat.

Doesn't look like that to me:

Effektor is a software audio host that offers VST compatibility to audio programs that do not support it (Reason, Traktor, etc.). It aims to transform these programs into plug-ins themselves

You need to map the virtual asio ports (get asio4all, if you don't have native asio) before you lauch it. It becomes the control host, if you like

So, nothing "becomes a vsti" as far as I can tell. But the description is kind of fuzzy so I'm not making any bets either way.

Hard to tell what it does, but it sounds a bit like paying for some fancy emperor's new clothes. I still don't see how you can make anything VST-compliant by wrapping it in software.

shit thats the one,, effector, thanks fridge, although i don't have another machine to try it out on right now and it seems to be a bit buggy to most, maybe i'll wait a whilst longer. I was hoping something like this could help me run recycle and other stand alone apps in ableton Live
