Ah okay...

... that bug I found is so rogue, it might be the cause for all of these troubles...

... will get it out to you tomorrow (grrrl urgently demands me for a barbeque...)

Cheers,

Havn't found any, either :?

I think CamelAudio used to have an archive with 3000+ on their site, but you gotta go in the user space now... must find my account details...

;) Urs

I just did an internet search for 20 minutes but did not find any... Quite a number of synths support .tun files, but no files anywhere! I tried some microtonal dedicated websites, but none there either!

The Scala page has a download of scala tunings (3000 of them), but they are .scl not .tun (I don't understand what is the difference)

hmmm........ seems like an obvious thing to be able to find!

Post

I'm thinking tobybear did a .scl-.tun converter a couple years ago (or was it 'Tick- it was one of the two if I remember)...

Yeah... there used to be that great archive... but d'oh...

The converter was from TobyBear... is it still available?

I'm not sure that converter is still available, but here's some interesting links:

http://www.tobybear.de/d_tuning.html

Here is the direct link to my TUN conversion of the Scala library (5 MB):
http://tobybear.phreque.com/files/tuning.zip

It was done with my SCL->TUN converter that is also included in the archive...

Cheers

Toby

I downloaded this, but all the files are scl??

the converter is there, but it is for PC so I cannot try it

Post

It looks like Scala can save be used to convert .scl files to .tun format. There is a tutorial at http://www.xs4all.nl/~huygensf/scala/Sc ... torial.pdf.

Scala is freeware and available for Mac (using X11) and PC.

I just converted all of the files and RARd them up. I'm not going to leave them on there for too long as I don't want my server to die. Let me know if there are any legal issues with me doing this and I'll remove the link immediately.

thanks for doing that...

anyone figured out where to put the tun files so that zebra will see them? I created a directory called Tuningfiles and tried it in a number of places, but nothing shows up... hmmm

Post

Thanks for the .tun files! There is a textfile with one-line descriptions of these scales: http://www.xs4all.nl/~huygensf/doc/scalesdir.txt

On Windows .tun files go in:
C:\Program Files\u-he\Tunefiles

I just put them there and clicking on the tuning textbox brings up the list of files. I didn't check to see if it recognises directory structures though - I just put some .tun files in the root.

Post

there is a folder called tunefiles directly in the u-he folder in program files.

i can load them.
honestly, i have no idea if this could be intended (never even thought about micotuning before), but whenever i load a tun file it seems like the keyboard is suddenly transposed like 6 "octaves" (whatever makes an octave in those files ;)) up, and i doubt that that is supposed to happen.

On Mac I tried all these

Library/Audio/Presets/u-he/Tunefiles

Library/Audio/Presets/u-he/Zebra2/Tunefiles

user/Library/Audio/Presets/u-he/Tunefiles

user/Library/Audio/Presets/u-he/Zebra2/Tunefiles

nothing shows up... hmmm

Live 5.2.1 is just released.

*[01] Bug: VST 2.4 plug-in GUI*
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Platform: Mac OS X Intel

Sometimes the windows of an 2.4 VST plug was not properly updated graphically

Status: Fixed

It is downloading so I have not tried it on my G5 if it fixes the Zebra2 GUI... but I will post if it does

Edit: nope... doesn't fix it... too bad

Wowowow... not even when you do not open the gui?

(would that hint at some rogue SSE2 code that's accidentally executed without safety check?)
