Crossover problems

Hi there.
Just got me receptor and I'm trying to connect it to my laptop with a crossover cable. I'm sure it's crossover cable, just bought it today.
My computer can't renew the ip address on my "Local area connection". I always get the "Limited or no connectivity" alert. I've tried this with my wireless connection turned on and off. I'm using Windows XP.

I've already read other topics on this forum connected to this problem, nothing there helped me.

Anyone?

I believe if you connect directly to your computer you will want a straight-through cable, not a crossover cable. Or you could add a hub or switch and a second crossover cable, if that's what you have lying about... :D

Ingvaralfreds you DO NEED a cross over if you are connecting straight from your laptop to the Receptor. The behaviour you are seeing is common with Receptor, I think they need to look at the DHCP service running. There are two solutions

1) Have Receptor running and connected to your laptop before you power up your laptop.

2) Alternatively once you see the the note saying "Limited or no connectivity" right click on the network icon and select repair. This will refresh the connection and obtain a relevant ip address.
