Is this deal for real? Akai quadcomp

So does anyone think that the free stuff will be better then spending around $15 US and shipping?

I have heard alot of people rave about the gvst stuff, but haven't tried much of it. Is it really THAT good? Sorry, I'm stuck at work through the night and won't be home until morning, so I can't check it out right now.

sorry, but I don't get this - you are starting a thread about a deal on a multiband-comp yet haven't tried the freeones?

The Akai stuff isn't really that good. Considering that there's better stuff for free these plugins imo aren't even woirth the tenner. I bet that's why they are discontinued.

all good & all rather different from each other. My personal favourite is T-Sledge which can be pretty wild.

Thanks Jens. I only posted this originally because it seemed odd. And if by chance it was a great plug, better then the free stuff, I would consider it.

I haven't looked at the free multibands, because Tracktion includes all the compressors I have needed for a while. But now with the mobile setup, I will likely need one good one.

But I was just inquiring. I won't be buying it though, as the free ones look like better options regardless. I just haven't had a chance to test them!

I remember (well faintly) when I 1st heard about QC I was all excited about having AKAI in my qbase 2.7 rack (the possiblities) then I tried it and was really dissapointed with what it did to my audio.. Taking this into consideration, QC and its bundle family is really outdated by todays standards!

@koolkeys: I see, mate - yes, Tracktion has indeed good stuff onboard even though a bit demanding cpu-wise. (but so can be T-Sledge)


Anyway: especially Endorphin and T-Sledge shouldn't miss in anyone's vst-library - they are fantastic.

Actually, I did find the other day in my backups that I had all the Fishphones stuff. So I have Endorphin, I will have to add T-Sledge.

Quadcomp is one of the worst MBcompressors out there IME..

I agree! It will dirty your audio up in a ugly way. It is one of my most regreted buys. The first multiband plugin i bought, and wish i could get rid of, i've tried to sell it on ebay starting at $10 but no one wanted it.I do like d.c. vocoder tho, but when it comes to Quadcomp- WARNING DO NOT BUY THIS PLUGIN, YOU WILL REGRET IT!


P.S. I'd look at voxengo Soniformer or stick with freeware.

keep in mind that the pluggins by Akai may not have much support..two years ago they were (Akai) were aquired by Numark...I tried for months (actually close to a year) to get deccabuddy but couldn't...I wouldn't give Numark any of my money...I'd check things out real closely before buying...jens imo is 100% correct, as is sounddesigner...

Yes I use this one sometimes to emulate dirty old keyboards.. I've actually made keys sound like one of those old school ampd electro keys.. The thing about Quadcomp is that it was one of the 1st of its kind for PC vst plus the the GUI is pretty nice.. love d.c. H8 quad..

I bought DC Vocoder and Decabuddy a couple years ago, and they're both excellent. About Quadcomp I couldn't say.
