okay that sounds like its not the fx I am after....?beej wrote:Yes, I have an SRV3030D...
The RSS effect can range from a naff phasey mess to quite convincing, but it's very dependent on the listening environment...
Reverb - who does know all that pro x-k hardware

@snooky:
here is one track where they move up the level of the amplifying effect. It seems to be distortion, but with analog warmth. This also does some kind of room effect and makes it sound more large, as played in a large hall.....
http://home.arcor.de/soundspace1/reverb/feel.wma
I once had an external distortion box for guitar players and this was much too noisy and sounded hell shitty....
But this one in the sound demo sounds like a heavy distortion which stays very clean and analog.
(ohmforce is pretty good, but its not the final thing for me)
Its not the reverb that makes an explosion sound loud , its the impulse pressure in the waves ( don't know how to call it exactlly)
again the claps have the special moving...

what do you mean with background noise....snooky wrote:mmh, I do hear a low background noise also in the clip, perhaps it's an artefact from recording a speaker (not a guitar cabinet tho)
the distortion behind the Clap that gets louder?

it's a lexicon I think, but to be honest, I don't find it anything special

you think its a Lexicon with extremly rolled of highs on that clap? no distortion fx?dr. orange wrote:it's a lexicon I think, but to be honest, I don't find it anything special
or do you mean the vocals?

are you serious with the distortion fx? I don't think they used one. I'm not sure though whether it's a lexicon, don't buy one according to my post

I have CSR and that seems to model the Lex reverbs, but you cannot do things like that...
I don't think a PCM90 can, but maybe...
Maybe the real units can cahnge to extremer settings and extremer sound... mhhh
I think it is something like a feedback distortion (more subtle like a analog tube distortion), because with higher amounts of wet level the clap sample gets longer too...
listen exactly the sound of this clap is changed dramtically over time...
Something between reverb, amp simulation, tube and clip and compression...

Like I said, it's how the real 909 clap sounds. There is a digital noise generator inside, therefore no two claps sound the same. Listen to Roland Casper's "P.i.a.n.o.", you'll recognize the same effect immediately.

okay I m sure you are right: the movement comes from the real 909....living sounds wrote:Like I said, it's how the real 909 clap sounds. but that amp fx seems to be an external fx as the reverb too

to make things clear, I did a small demo acid file:
first only has CSR on the clap
http://home.arcor.de/soundspace1/reverb ... b_clap.wma
the next two files have doubler+3D positioning plug-in and CSR on it
http://home.arcor.de/soundspace1/reverb ... ith_fx.wma
http://home.arcor.de/soundspace1/reverb ... e_acid.wma
just sits better in the mix, has more groove and the reverb does not sound adhered.
These fx also does improve other sounds ...
I just though somebody does kno a unit with exactly this fx.....

it sounds to me as it is a real 909 or such.hifiboom wrote:If I listen exactly to the clap sample, it does not change in pitch itself....
It is just an effect in front or behind the ER pattern of a reverb...., maybe it isn't a reverb thing at all...
those claps simply weren't digital played back. the control for the sample (or even the whole sound) was created analog. an lfo modulation (fast) is used to modulate the amp of the first milliseconds (the grittering sound that makes the signal actually sound "multiple triggered". this lfo is free running, so every clap sounds different ...
so everytime a different amp modded -clap goes into a reverb, that makes also the reverb sound different all the time, thats why it sounds so "alive" ...
you can easily create such results with i.e. ephonics drumatic 3 ...
