How many audio inputs?

Sorry if this is a dumb question. How many simultaneous inputs (say mics and guitars) are available in Receptor?

Thanks

Post

Receptor has four (physical) inputs

-> On the front panel, there is an input labellled 'input' which I believe is very appropriate for the likes of guitars e.t.c

-> At the back there is a left and right line input

-> Also at the back there is an S/PDIF input as well. (though I am not sure if this accepts audio feeds).

Now I am not sure how many of these inputs can be used at once. Maybe someone from muse can answer that?

Thanks for that, philosorhymes. I was beginning to think I worded my question badly, so I'll expand on it a little: What I'm considering is to use a Receptor for processing 2x vocals plus 1 guitar input in a live set-up.
Are there enough inputs to achieve that? Alternatively is there a way to attach some sort of multi-in box to Receptor?
Thanks again

I created a simple free plugin to expand the number of inputs: GH-LRSelector (768KB), which allows you to use the stereo line input as 2 mono ins. Also works with SPDIF in, so you can get a total of 4 mono inputs on Receptor, in addition to the front panel guitar input. There's a read-me file in the ZIP download.
To feed the mics into the rear line inputs, you'll need a pre-amp or use the effects sends from a (hardware) mixer.

gregh1, where would i find this free plugin?

Here
It's made with SynthEdit, so it's a bit big for what it does, but the CPU usage is low, and the benefit for Receptor users is high.

greg, that page basically gives me a file-not-found message. Is there another link? This sounds useful.

Link fixed - it was case sensitive. At least my KVR post count is going up...

Its a digital in no? Does it have XLR's?

S/PDIF is RCA, so two channel in max. The ADAT port is out-only, I wonder if that can be changed through software (probably not, the cables are identical, but one side sends data, the other has a receiving sensor... nevermind!)

Yes.

From the text file included in the download:
Select Receptor channel 1, choose Line Input as the source, then load GH_LRSelector into FXA. On my plugin, click on 'Left Input'.
Now, select channel 2, again choose Line Input as the source, then load GH_LRSelector into FXA. This time, click on 'Right Input' on my plugin.
Feed different signals into the left and right Line Inputs and confirm that you are hearing them split into channels 1 and 2 of the Receptor mixer (by soloing the channels).

You can repeat this with S/PDIF (RCA-style digital in), into Receptor channels 3 and 4 (for example), then choose Guitar Input for channel 5. And there you go.

The plugin will also work with UniWire channels, so you can send 2 mono signals to Receptor (as left and right in one UniWire instance), then separate them at Receptor. This may save network bandwidth.

p.s. I sent this concept (of selecting left or right of Line Input) to Muse over a year ago. It should be simple for them to implement in software. I got tired of waiting, so I made the VST. It takes up an effect slot, but it's better than nothing.

This is very cool and useful. Muse should either implement this or buy this VST from you and include it on the unit!

THANKS!
