Kermit please - how to play soundfont with sfz

I see no reference in the documentation about working with soundfonts. The home page just says drag and drop, not something Receptor does, AFAIK/

I have downloaded 3 GM SF2 fonts - Unison, Realfont and Fluid. If you have a preference (for playability or sound quality) could you post a quick script to get basic GM patch load capability from one of these fonts? I just do not get it... :help:

Sorry, I don't use soundfonts at all, nor Sfz. When I need GM to listen to something, I use my old Korg NX5R.

OK, this is what happens when you read the docs before launching the app. sfz DOES read soundfonts just fine, it just doesn't talk about it in the docs! (Gi figure...) I don't have a great handle on making it do what I really want, but it does work. It would be great if they could give a little more info on operating within the GUI, there are some fields at the lower right that seem to do nothing. Key range?

It seem to me it is more suited to a PC. I use it to load GM samplesets, play midi's, but I also dragged samples into it on receptor, and it works fine. Just bring up two screens(your sample and Receptor folder) on PC and drag and drop. You can play midi's through a laptop, or change the midi channels, and play direct.

Mainly, I need two things from this - a low-overhead CPU-friendly GM player for live gigs where I suddenly need an unexpected patch (maybe a string pad or brass section for stabs) and a SFX patch to keep the gig more interesting.

I have got sfz with Fluid for GM, and the Unison bank is great for the SFX. I am only concerned with live sound, my studio has lots of alternatives from Giga to Colossus.

I have the standalone ver on PC, and works well as a player. I haven't tried the VST ver.

Sorry for the goof

I use Synthfont, also , as a player. I have the stand alone in PC, and it works well. I haven't tried the VSTi version.
