A tutorial covering installation, midi and audio recording, Use of VST, and Audio rendering using LUNA has been established. The Tutorial should work for both Windows and OSX.

Couple of minors. First, mention that the software is still pre-release... and that you're talking about the free version at all times
. Second, you've used "composition" when refering to a MIDI sequence. This could be confusing as the "composition properties" refers to all the parts and tracks. Oh, and I think the tutorial would stand up to a mention of automation somewhere in the effects section.
I think the point about skipping VST setup as the first step of installation is sound... Maybe Jo could move it to after the ASIO and MIDI setups. I think MIDI should be first, myself: the tool could still work without ASIO and VST bits as a pure sequencer...

Some good points made.
We will try to adjust the tutorial to eliminate the term composition in favor of midi sequence. Also try to cover automation - although in my mind this is beyond basics. I am assuming that there will be other features added to Luna as it reaches a releasable product. Our aim was to introduce some basic concepts to a wide audience and not necessarily teach the 'Luna' way of doing things. In other words, get across the general steps of creating electronic music. The choice of using Luna as a teaching platform is because we wanted reach both MAC and PC students, which hopefully will continue with Luna.
The reason that the term Pre-Release was not made clear is that the tutorial should be able to stand up for quite some time without change. To tag it as pre-release, might then require removal of this bit of info. As it stands, we don't need to even qualify it as pre-release 2 or 3 or any other version. Who knows what is going to happen in the future.

1 mhz processor?
I hope note, I think Luna runs pretty light but not that light.

BTW, is it possible to get the Midi Files mentioned in Tutor1_VST? (OpusFunk and Polymer Suds)
And the *.MuSession files?

I am guessing that the musession files are pretty much dependent on the installation, but if you want to try to put it all back together, I will zip the midis and the musessions together and post them for you. Watch this thread for the link.mahtazz wrote: I'm following that nice tutorial. Thanks!![]()

Thanks for all the tips. The tutorial has been revised to incorporate a few suggestions and we have raised the recommended requirements for running the LUNA system to 1000 Mhz.Polite Company wrote:1 mhz processor?![]()

Thank you, Johnny.
I've been working some hours today with your tutorial.
That's the result
And the files I've been used
PS: Thanks to Peter, too!

Here is a zip file with the musessions (and the midi files). I would like to see if the session can be created with just the musession files. Van you let me know? Thanks

Mahtazz, yes that worked nicely. How did you get the drums working?
Jonny, to make the .ZIP file self-contained, you need to include the soundfont and WAV files used. (I didn't have Triangle II installed - but that's my problem

Mahtazz ...
Re-read the Tutorial. The synth is a VSTi called sfz from RGC Audio. It is a soundfont player. In this case we use a special soundfont collection named sYnerGi8 and is available here ...

This is a General Midi set of soundfonts
The drums are in bank 128.

I did use a little 1MB General Midi soundfont from Synthfont and one instance of sfz instead 4 as you. This is the beautiful of GM.
