Hi all,
Getting Ivory soon but I don't at the moment have a fully weighted keyboard. Can anyone recommend a controller that's not too heavily weighted (used to Nord Electro weight) but will make full use of Ivory with the velocity transmissions. Just what is the best piano controller for this?
Thanks

I use a Roland RD 700 - and I've tried out everything - it's a very personal preference though.

I agree with the kawai mp9000, albeit quite heavy. It felt terrific though. I've since switched to the more manageable (at least in weight) yamaha p90.

If you want something that isn't too heavily weighted maybe you should checkout the M-Audio Keystation 88.
I've heard critisicm from pianoplayers that find it too light but i think it is really nice.
But i'm no pianoplayer.

FYI there is a used A90 on Harmony Central for $1000 make offer.
I played one once in a studio but it had seen better days so I didn't like it.
A recent Keyboard Player review suggested that the new controllers from Fatar Studiologic were perfect for Ivory.
I just loaded Ivory on Receptor and it is very cool.
I too am thinking about getting the perfect controller for it - the Doepfer PK88 seems cool - and analoghaven is having 10% off this month - but it has no controls at all. I tried the CME U8 and it felt better than I thought it would but not as good as a Roland RD700SX or a Yamaha Motif ES 8.
I hated the Keystation - why doesn't M Audio get a better keybed - the controller itself looks great but I hated the feel. YMMV.
Currently I am using a Kurzweil PC2 and love it. I also have a PC2X at another studio - bringing it home tonight - will try that with Receptor - hoping for good things.

Had both. Similar but PC2X is better. Not as good as RD700SX IMHO. PC2 is the semiweighed - I use that for gigs - lite not piano like but much much better than a synth action
