Guitar players using receptor live?

to all having trouble with no tap tempo/save tempo with multis, check out this product:

i've yet to try it out but it looks promising. i may try it out before long and let you all know how it works. the cool thing is (i think) this would work well across several midi devices (including a couple receptors).

I can think of a few foot controllers that will allow you to assign the instant access switches and expression pedals to any midi channel and controller number that you like.

The Digital Music Corp Ground Control Pro would give you eight assignable instant access switches (global) and two assignable (per preset) expression pedals inputs.

The Rocktron All Access would give you as many as fifteen instant access switches and two expression pedal inputs, all assignable on a per preset basis.

The Axess Electronics FX1 would give you 12 assignable instant access switches (global), those switches can also send program change messages and a custom HEX message if desired. You also get four expression pedal inputs that are assignable on a per preset basis.

Who's actually using a foot pedal live? I'm trying to decide what to get at the moment...

Please tell me your experiences!

I've checked out the MFC10 - looks great! Has anyone managed to configure the expression pedal to control wah, volume, fx depth etc?

Yep, i'm using the mfc10, and you can assign the expression pedal to control receptor parameters. one caveat is, it's kind of tricky to set the same pedal to do different things for different multis. for example, you can set the controller to modify the first parameter of the first plugin on the first channel, but you can't change its assignment with each multi. plus, each plugin uses the same parameter order every time it's instantiated, so you can't just re-order the parameters in each multi. perhaps routing the midi cc's directly to the plugins (a new feature in 1.5) will allow for some sort of workaround, i haven't messed with that setting much; though from what i gather you're giving up the ability to control the mixer when you do that.

i currently use my receptor for both guitar and keyboard. the way it's set up is: channels 1&2 are synths, associated with the keyboard. channel 16 is usually guitar audio, and channel 5 is synth associated with guitar (possible via a Roland GI20). then i have sub 1 available for synth reverb, and sub 2 available for guitar fx, usually just delay. if i need any other guitar sounds during the song, i set them up in additional channels, moving leftward from 16, and enable/disable them using the footcontroller. the MFC10's on-board expression pedal controls the volume of sub 2 (for guitar), which is usually a wet delay signal, and i have one out-board exp. pedal that sits under the keyboard and controls the volume of channel 2 (for when i use more than one keyboard sound at once). then i route the differnent sounds through 2 outputs, one going to my twin reverb (modified with a line-in) and the other going into a DI for the house PA to pick up. though it's all still evolving and is subject to change at any moment...

one thing i'd like to see implemented is being able to change the midi channel that a single listens to for controllers, indepentently of the channel it listens to for notes. basically more midi flexibility in general would be superb... such as being able to send midi out from a plugin into another plugin (therefore allowing midi-only plugins), and being able to re-scale or invert a specific controller's incoming values. that would open up a whole new world of possibilities.

Thanks very much cbreeze - that info is very helpful!

I'm a bit  to be asking, but has anyone tried this:

It's quite a bit cheaper, and I don't have a hell of a lot of money to spend at the moment...

...the two expression pedals are interesting, too!

Actually, I'm rethinking the whole thing :hihi:

I'm really going to need to have my expression pedals separate, because I'm a keyboard player, and none of those pedal setups have room in the middle for a sustain pedal! I'm thinking I might get a smaller pedal (2-5 switches), have that on the left of the sustain pedal, and have the expression pedal on the right.

Anyone know of smaller setups?
