I'd really like to take a look at it. There isn't a demo out, is there? At least not at the Tascam page.

And "Impulse Libary"? Release? Elaborate more please.

Impulse library, nothing too special, but we have the recording equipment, and the time, so we are going to do our best at making as nice an impulse library of real spaces around our area as we can. Something to release for free (possibly upload it on NoiseVault). We could release wave format, and I'd also make gigapulse patches so you could get all the cool pictures and such in the interface :)

Dont expect amazingly recognizable locations, but probably rooms, maybe acouple churches, stuff like that. (we MIGHT however get access to recording Lagerquist Concert Hall http://www.plu.edu/~events/lagerquist.html at some point, which would be very fun.

It has a very diverse library of impulses that suit all music needs, but you can't load .wav files in it, you can only use gigapulse proprietary file format. But gigapulses library is huge and pretty extensive, ranging from different sized rooms, halls, plates, cathedral, booth, spring all the way down to weird creations. The reverb is for far more then just orchestra and covers reverb needs in general.
you can load wavs in it, and its the simpliest thing ever, just drag and drop, or use the editor for more complex groups of impulses (non stereo, room placement groups etc). I have made many presets for gigapulse using noisevault and other free web impulses...and speaking of which, me and mate are starting an impulse library TODAY :P

I've had gigapulse for many months now and never knew it could use .wav files. I remember trying to use wav when i first bought it but it appeared to me as if gigapulse did'nt allow this. THANKS for the info! I definitely will check this out.
How does Gigapulse compare with other convos? (Voxengo, Wizoo, Waves, Logic etc.) Is it more or less cpu intensive? Is latency a problem? Is the reverb subjectively better than the others?

I like the concept of multi-convo's so that the placement of the sound in the stereo field generates a different response. Does this work realistically/effectively?

Is it possible to input more than one sound in each instance of Gigapulse and move each sound independently in the stereo field? Or does a new instance of Gigapulse have to be opened for each sound? I'm wondering if I can route a guitar, vocal and synth into Gigapulse and have a different reverb and stereo placement for each of them?

havent read the entire thread.

but

one thing that makes antares different, is it acutally DEconvolves the source first, so you can more accurately apply the modeled mics eq.

afaik no other program does this./..

I havent had alot of different convos to compare, Ive demoed the waves convo, and it had a comparable sound and cpu use, but GigaPulses placement is I think its coolest feature, and yes, it works perfectly. Most areas have 18 positions to place the source sound and all seem represented accuratly. The one feature it doesnt have is multi inputs for different sources, I've seen alot of people hoping it worked this way, but it does not. Gigapulse VST runs at just over 1ms latency, not an issue. After all is said and done, when you compare this to other convos and factor in a 69.99$ price tag, it cant be beat imho.

Gigapulse uses more cpu then wizooverb and pristine space. on my computer gigapulse uses %22 for one instance. I like gigapulse better then waves ir1 and most other convo verbs, but i like wizoo's sound better then gigapulses, i think wizoo has the most transparent and natural sound of 'ALL' reverbs in the box, but this is not saying anything bad about gigapulse for gigapulse has its own flavor thats good, and out of subjectiveness many may prefer it. When i did realtime input monitoring i noticed a VERY small delay in gigapulse but its still usable in this way. As cyrosis has already mentioned- gigapulse sound placement is dynamite, and very realistic to my ears. And its mic modeling is great. All in all gigapulse and wizooverb are the cheaper convo's but they sound better then waves and altiverb to me, wich are the most expensive, $599/$699? vs $69/$99 (larger version of wizooverb is $239 i believe).

Wow! :hyper: Thanks for the feedback. 8) I must get this seeing as it sounds like a great verb for a bargain price.

just a note, have you tried gigapulse in pure mode? there is a noticabley more detailed sound, yet it nearly doubles the cpu usage, for rendering tho this isnt a problem. (I havent tried wizooverb, but it sounds like a hell of a verb as well)

Yes i've tried pure mode and it is noticeable difference but the wizoo is to my ears a little more transparant and natural, But i can also do better testing now that i've realized threw you gigapulse imports wav files, and its listed right under file menue in gigapulse as 'import wav data' some how i overlooked it  , so later i'll use the same impulse response in both to see if my sight into both plugins overall inherent nature is all the way accurate. Here is a link to hear clips and download demo of wizooverb so you can judge to- http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/W ... -main.html

You won't be disappointed i'm sure! Gigapulse is a great reverb, in my opinion very few reverbs sit as one of the best out here, gigapulse is one (imho).

Thanks for the tip on Gigapulse reverb SD.
Sounds like a must verb to check out!
