Virtual Machine

Hi,
in the roadmap Urs mentions a "virtual machine" that is now part of Zebra2 - sounds rather interesting, is there a site where one can get more details on that (or some example-scripts that show how to use that feature)?
Greetings,
NothanUmber
P.S.: Another unrelated question: How can I get a waveform from one preset into another? (Is it possible/planned to save and reload waveforms? Wasn't able to get the "copy/paste" functionality to work - "paste" simply does nothing (even when using it with different waveform slots of the same preset))

Well, the VM will be documented when Z2 is bug free, and most likely some weeks after release. It's *huge*, but for now I have to concentrate on stuff that's more important.
You can save whole oscillator settings in the final version (and the current betas found in this forum), mostly because it's often not the waveform alone that does the sound but also the osc fx.
When you copy/paste, make sure that the target osc is in the same mode (GeoBlend/Morph vs. SpectroBlend/Morph), otherwise copy/paste won't have visible results. But it should work across plugin boundaries within the same host software. (If not, that's a new bug, I will check it out)
Cheers,
Urs

No problem, take your timeUrs wrote:Well, the VM will be documented when Z2 is bug free [...] I have to concentrate on stuff that's more important.
Not neccessary, it's working quite well, I just didn't realize that copy/paste really copies the whole waveset (all 16 single waves) from oscillator to oscillator. I tried to use it with two wave slots of the same oscillator - which obviously isn't what the copy/paste functionality is intended for... (Is there a nother way to achive that?)Urs wrote: If not, that's a new bug, I will check it out)
P.S.: Found a real show stopper bug with huge impact on nearly every single function of the synth: there is a letter twist in "paset waveset"

Ditto - i thought the copy/paste was for the current wave, not the waveset.
how do i copy the wave from slot 1 to slot 16?

To copy single waves within the 16 slots, just select the waveform you want to copy and ctrl-click (right-click) on the target slot in the small overview below the waveform editor. It's got three options, and "duplicate" would be the one that copies the selected waveform to the target slot.
Modifier keys are used pretty extensively there, i.e. to drag stuff around or to do single-click morphs... I think this should be all explained on http://www.u-he.com/zebra/manual/?page_id=7 - but no pics still...
Cheers,
Urs

Ah, nice a manual!
Wasn't aware that there already existed one (just adds to the long list of things that I'm not aware of...).
Perhaps it would be a good idea to make a sticky thread (and a link from the zebra homepage) to that docu page - even if it's not ready, it should keep you from having to answer at least some of those... uninformed questions like mine.

Yes, "ebenfalls danke" for helping out!
Also thanks for the Zebralette plugin in the new beta version. This is a really wonderful addition to my "modular zombiesynth"
(built out of separate and specialized vst modules, peacefully(*) brought together in (and masterbrainborgassimilated by) Bidule.)

(*) Hope the Ohmforce gang will be nice to the little zebra - or however one should call it when it comes out on the other side...
