Thank you!
thanks for replying to my many posts. PM coming with samples of instrument definitions (cakewalk format - like INI), midnam XML format, and cubase mixmap format.. all ones i hand made (except CW which i modified some sources) for my xp60 and its many banks
thank you! got it! :)
but i'm still not sure if i got you correctly: with these definitions you can... um, you know what types of patches your synth has, and what they're called. but you have to make them manually first, right?

EDIT: :dog: got it. you meant loading them and then the program would record accordingly to this definition and rename the files like they're called in it.

right, they let you know exactly that. RIGHT, you got it with the edit :)

even if you didn't implement some native reader, a simple list like this:

Code: Select all

1 piano
2 big piano
3 bigger piano
4 huge piano
5 skin flute
...
127 twonkulator 9000
would rule, simple format, prog#, space, name of patch for record. :) of course .ins/.xml/.txt support would rock with no footwork but i'd be happy to do the footwork myself (i use ultraedit which has a kick ass column edit mode which lets me do this kind of stuff with relative ease).

could even append the bank changes:

Code: Select all

lsb 0
msb 32
etc.

thanks for your attentive ear and open mind :) looking forward greatly to your nice program :)

Sounds good - it's definately on my list ! :D

Consider this : Your program should be able to sort of, have like a sequencer only for midi CCs. It should be able to offer "layers". That is, one layer of CC07 to automate the cutoff while it is sampling, and another layer to automate pitch lfo frequency, etc., all while sampling a single note. Then, do different types of automation, and be able to layer them into ONE single program. Now, THAT would be a killer auto-sampling app. :)
TOP NOTCH IDEA!
Keyboard follow of cc parameters would be really cool! As well as short user drawn envelopes and programable LFO's.

EDIT: What exactly do you mean with keyboard following of cc's ? :)

BTW: Do "naming-guidelines" for sampler files exist? I'm talking about somethink like this:

Code: Select all

DistortedBass_C2_127.wav
DistortedBass_F#-1_90.wav
DistortedBass_127_A3.wav
Is there a rule on how to append prefixes like for octave, note, velocity and so on? What's the best combination that most samplers can recognize?

Or shall i just go ahead? :) (with e.g. "mysample_C1_127.wav")?

I would default to mysample_C1.wav
If sampled with velocity-layering then mysample_C1_127, if no velo-layering is used then omit the velocity number.

Also a switch to use midi note number might be a good idea ie mysample_060.wav

Great Idea, thank you - will do! :)

Awesome tool!

I already do this with the freeware "Cantabile" app, but this new app your making seems a lot more precise and better suited for sampling. Hopefully it's freeware as well.

This looks very cool!

For a future update, how about implementing a "Sample Session Queue"? Basically, you would queue up a list of entire sampling sessions with different parameters, such as different velocity values, different CC# values, etc. That way, a user could set up very complex sampling sessions in a flexible manner. And they could modify any given parameter globally by selecting all the queued sessions and changing that parameter value.

Along with this, how about a naming template the user can modify. Not the most elegant, but having them type in something like "MyCoolSound_[Note]_[Vel]_[CC#7]_[CC#12].wav" would be a flexible solution.
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

Hi deastman, sounds interesting - but yes, then this would be something for a update in future ! :) (Have to make a cut somewhere to even get v1 finished now :D) - thank you! :)

Sounds really interesting.
Looking forward to trying it out.

Now you can! Theres a beta demo available here:

Having the ability to sample :

1: True Mono left or Right input

2: 16bit, 24 bit and 32 bit

3: 44khz, 48khz 88khz and 96khz

4. Templates for different key range sampling i.e every octave, every 5th note etc.....
