Oh, whoops - I meant Highlife, not DirectWave!
How's the VSTi sampling in ESC?

Hm, too bad. Can do the initial sampling with Chainer easily, it's just the looping that sucks.grymmjack wrote: it worksno auto-loop stuff.
Ok, thanks. I should perhaps just buy it one day. I like the idea of a "per patch configuration" as well.highlife does the auto-loop stuff, but it's dependent on how you configure it per patch (which i find to be very nice way to do it).

highlife demo should let you try the functionality out. give it a shot. i like the flexibility of highlife. can recursively work -- ie: sample a vsti (or freeze as highlife calls it), then load highlife into highlife with your frozen patch, and tweak the highlife parameters and freeze that. it's very powerful.Sascha Franck wrote:Hm, too bad. Damn i thought this App would caught interest since you can just let it record and truncate and loop everything you want in one go and with the press of a button you have a ready-to-use multivelocity / autolooped instrument.
Perhaps, i was wrong
But back on topic: Can you export the Highlife Presets/Samples?
By the way: In the future i will update Samplematic so that you can choose any Audio-Input you want, and sample from that.
The main thing why i've done Samplematic is still AUTO-LOOPING! Of course sometimes auto-looping just doesn't fit - but that depends on what you've recorded...

sonicfire; for sure i'm interested. i think all who have posted in this thread are.. but the current beta/demo is difficult to test looping with, it doesn't do sf2 yet, and i don't know how to tell otherwise. are they just loop points in the wave file too?
yes you can export as sfz/wav from highlife.
i'm very intrigued on autolooping and the patch naming stuff we discussed. the main selling points for me are those 2 features alone.
dont be disheartened by lack of response. sometimes people dont know what they want til you give it to them. keep plugging away on code and when another beta is ready i'm sure more testers will pop in..

I agree here, I would be interested only if there is sf2 export or at least a 'packed format that vsampler can read, which gives you a lot of options.
And when you have a new version, I'll test it

SF2 will come, no worries - for now i just finished SFZ Export which works great so far. I also plan to include real release-sample support (for/within the sfz format), that opens up nice possibilitieskara wrote:I agree here, I would be interested only if there is sf2 export or at least a 'packed format that vsampler can read, which gives you a lot of options.

It's Automatically creates click free loops!?!
What manner of magic is this?
Sounds REALLY intersting as looping has always been a torture for me going back to Mirage days. Will check it out further as time allows. Great Work!

To record the output of a VST, set your VST host to output to your built-in soundcard. Then use the Windows Recording Controls panel to select "Wave Out Mix" (or sometimes "Record what you hear") as the channel to record. If you don't know how to find Recording Controls, just ask.
If you don't have a built-in or a soundcard that uses the Windows controls, you're out of luck. Most good soundcards don't, but most MOBOs have built-ins.
As Sasha points out, you also have to fiddle with MIDIYOKE to get the MIDI routed correctly, and that's a hassle. So, for most folks it's doable, but not viable as a product.
I'm interested in the auto-looping. I'd like to see a mode where I can import an sfz and have it auto-looped! Of course, the ability to record a MIDI device is great, too.
Can you tell us anything about how the auto-looping works, from a math/algorithmic standpoint, without giving away the farm? I'd be very interested.

To record VST's or any stuff FROM your computer direclty, you could always just plug a line-out into line-in, as long as you turn off monitoring, this works very well (then you dont have a feedback loop)...of course, that's a lame solution, but as long as it works ...
Concerning virtual MIDI Cables: Mhh, i dont think its a hassle!
While developing SM i used http://www.nerds.de/en/loopbe30.html, it's freeware, the Installation was flawlessy, i takes two minutes to set it up .. no problems here
But i can only say it again, the primary intention of SM is recording external Gear, not internal stuff.
Autolooping: Yes, a batch-converter that automatically loops sounds that you throw in is also on my List of plannend Things!
Perhaps it could even autocreate a SFZ.
And that looping - well, it isn't magic
Look at the Loop-descriptions, you should get the picture
