new version of TUNAFISH ... plus cool new free plugin !!!

I tried Tunafish & when I select my ASIO4All drivers it suddently stutter. When I use the MME drivers it works ok but I can't put a lot of VSTs. I find it strange that my ASIO4All settings work good with FL Studio but have problems with TuneFish. Do I have to tweak my ASIO4All settings speceficly for TunaFish? I love TunaFish concept & dig the freeze function a lot!

OK, tweak my setting for my ASIO4ALL drivers, running fine right now.

I truly dig the concept behind TunaFish, it's even push me to re-install Hammerhead to make groove & beat to import into TunaFish!

The Freeze function is a god send & very very usefull. I know it's nothing new to the software market but it's the first time I'm trying it & I really dig it.

The only problem I can see so far is it's stability. When I freeze more than two track that little freeze logo just 'stick' into the screen even when the freezing is finish. I can still use the program but having this freeze logo in front of everything is kind of anoying.

Also, I got access violation messages I think two times. If you want Bram I can send you the screenshots.

It also crash or 'hung up' with some VST taking to much computer. But I think it's normal considering the amount of VST instruments & effects out there that the program have to deal with.

If you have a list of VSTs that are known to work fine in TunaFish please send the link!

If you could let me know which plugins are problematic then that would really help me. Often it's a matter of tweaking some little thing internally to get certain plugins working.

The $30 I paid for Tunafish has been well worth it. A couple of additional comments for what it's worth:

Good things:

1. The interface is great. By far the easiest to use intro-sequencer out there. Actually, I particularly like the overview section.

2. Having drum tracks separate from the sampler is a simple, commonsense idea. Good thinking. Also, the pre-loaded samples are pretty good.

3. Fun, built in effects that are effortless. About time someone did this.

OK, a few problem areas:

1. The most serious is the inability to set buffers/latency from within the program, at least for MME. I have not tried ASIO4All, but I have a decent machine, and I have trouble running more than a few VSTs in Tunafish. Given the potential market to users looking for an easy piece of software, this could cause a fair amount of frustration.

2. I usually cut and paste in the overview section, but when I've used the sequencer, I've sometimes had what seems to be notes sustaining from one sequence into the next -- and not due to release times on the VSTs or anything like that. Not sure what causes that.

3. This is more of a wish-list item: being able to select an area and increase or decrease the velocity of the notes within that area. This would be a big help for those of us that don't do live tweaking.

Anyway, it's a fun product. I'm glad you support 3/4 time now -- my first Tunafish project (you can listen to it if you follow the link at my signature: "Twilight Memories") is sort of a tribute to my childhood days of listening to an old Wurlitzer, and I had to work around the lack of a set structure for triplets. You might want to add support for 12/8 and 9/8 so people can do blues/swing type stuff also.

I know it's meant to be a basic product, and for $30 it's a pretty good deal. Fix the buffering issue, and it will be great deal.

Actually, I'm going to try it today. I guess what I'm getting at is that the program should be very attractive to newer users and people that want sometime easy to use right out of the box, so to speak. Those types of people don't want to go looking around to download more software to make the program work.

It's not a big deal, I still like the program.

OK, I've got Asio4all working, but still a few questions.

1. My machine only has MME -- so I keep it set to MME and select Soundmax as the choice, it seems to work OK. (Selecting soundmax from the ASIO diaolog.) If I select ASIO, I get an access violation and my computer (XP) crashes. Weird.

2. MORE SERIOUS: in the overview section -- if I cut in the middle of a section, it seems to delete areas when I try to paste. Please make sure that cut and paste works properly from the Overview section.

Anyway, I still use Tunafish regularly. Just trying to iron out the bugs.

That's weird.. I don't doubt your observation but I've cut/pasted hundreds of times from the overview and never had this problem.. I'll see if I can reproduce this.

Thanks! I just checked it out. This is a big help. I hope the program is selling well for you. For someone that wants to just open a program and get going, Tunafish is really great, and I actually learned quite a bit from it.

I'll be using it a lot more now. The sequencer function seems to run more smoothly also. There may be a few other little "fixes" that I might list sometime if you don't mind. (I know you're not designing custom software for me!). These are not really bugs or desired features, but minor disturbances that might confuse a newer user.
