I think this thread has been hijacked. Some folks didn't realize that since it was in the Receptor Forum it was implied top 10 list "FOR RECEPTOR".
Oh well...

Well, to be honest Kontakt2 is #1 in my real list (using TSO, Nostalgia and Collosus samplelibs)....but since this list is "no samplers"
...here is mine (pretty typical):
B4II
Minimonsta
OP-X
Atmosphere
FM7
Albino2
R66 (reverb)
M-Tron
Manystation
Lounge Lizard Session (yeah, I got it working

The stuff I use on pretty much everything? Easy...
Virus Powercore
4front Piano
Mtron
Minimogue
Helian 2nd Bass
Waves L1
Waves REq
TC30
UAD1 Teletronics LA2A
UAD1 Urei Limiter
And as a bonus... #11... Mr Rays
Those are in the "always use" category for me.

Is it possible to I extract my Colossus samples from Kompakt and load them into Kontakt?Hybernation wrote:Well, to be honest Kontakt2 is #1 in my real list (using TSO, Nostalgia and Collosus samplelibs).

If you have Collosus installed and authorized, Kontakt and Kompakt will both load it's instruments. just "browse" over to the directory where the NKI files are and load them same as you do any other.PhilMuller wrote:Is it possible to I extract my Colossus samples from Kompakt and load them into Kontakt?Hybernation wrote:Well, to be honest Kontakt2 is #1 in my real list (using TSO, Nostalgia and Collosus samplelibs).
Be careful not to SAVE any of the files in Kontakt2, though, or you'll no longer be able to load them in Kompakt/Collosus!

I can find "StrataVarious" anywhere. What is it and who makes and/or sells it?ianweb123 wrote:filkertom wrote: 10. StrataVarious![]()

Just a guess - I'm wondering if filkertom is suggesting that he likes Garritan's 'Stradivarious' (loaded up in Kontakt) as one of his favorite plugins.

You can find it on the Krakli Software Legacy Plugs page (you will need to scroll to the bottom of the free synths list to find the link)PhilMuller wrote:I can find "StrataVarious" anywhere. What is it and who makes and/or sells it?ianweb123 wrote:filkertom wrote: 10. StrataVarious![]()

Precisely. It's right here:ianweb123 wrote:You can find it on the Krakli Software Legacy Plugs page (you will need to scroll to the bottom of the free synths list to find the link)PhilMuller wrote:I can find "StrataVarious" anywhere. And, in response to looneytunes, I'd love to be able to financially justify the Garritan Stradivarius (and, for that matter, Kontakt), but I can't right now. And, for the moment, I don't think I'm good enough with symphonic MIDI to be able to use it in the way it's intended, and I'm not writing that kind of music. But lemme tell ya -- it's only one lottery ticket away....

I want to thank you all, by the way, for pointing out some plug-ins I'd never heard of (which I do realize is kinda the point of the thread and all). I'm still fairly new to using VST/VSTi, and this is some wicked cool stuff.

I went to Kraklis site (see Filkertom's post above) and checked out the free plugins. I expected pure garbage.... but instead I found a few gems: The "V-Box2" plugin has a patch called "DoohWop". This patch actually sounds like scat voices. After playing with the parameters for a while I was able to get a bunch of cool vocal timbres. The "V-Box-X" Plugin has a patch called "Steam Voices" which simulate a choir and makes for a great pad. The "RtiCul8" plugin has a patch called "<Like Touch>". This makes a great lead. The "Richman" plugin has a pitch called "Ann_Gee". Play this patch in a lower register and it gives you a gritty polyphonic bottom end. Try these plugins out, the price is right! I don't want to come off as a pompous ass, but I found these sounds very playable and just wanted to share them with the group.
