Confirmed. Needed to install older versions of Sonar to do some testing of SUBSonar2 anyways.

I have a hard time complaining about Sonar's fast upgrade cycle when Cakewalk is so generous to users of old versions. If you purchase just before a release, you can often skip 3 versions and not pay a cent more than someone that upgrades every year. Heck, if you have Sonar 1, you can upgrade to Sonar 6 for $250. It's hardly a "shakedown" in my book, especially now that the nice library of extras is carrying over from version to version.

Post

It's nice to have the option of upgrading every year, but I really wish they would take more time, and do a bigger upgrade. It always seems they are trying to one up Cubase, rather than bringing Sonar to the next level and competing with Logic, Samplitude, etc.

Some of the effects are really, really dated, and they don't have the same integrated look and feel, which makes it feel a bit cheap and disjointed. Oh well....maybe in 12 more months :)

Sonar feckin rules. For a home recording musician, nothing is as intuitive or powerful. And imho thir upgrades *are* major.

Nice box. Very nice. 8)

After being dumped by Emagic after v4 I have a whole new appreciation for software developers. Even if there aren't any "must haves" in the upgrade I get it anyway out of fear I will be abandonded again. I guess abandonment issues are something you never get over. Please buy it..for me, or they might make any more.

I had a wierd dream last night. I dreamt that Cakewalk released a full-page ad for Sonar 6 in SoundOnSound... but all the screenshots on the advert were for BabyaLogic. :-o *shudder* (maybe I need to get out more...)

torhan: Hmn... that 6 on the box looks a lot like a 5. :| Maybe just the font they're using.

just ordered sonar producer 5 with the free upgrade to ver. 6 when its out....

Also this looks like some specs though its not on the cakewalk page yet and therefore a little suspicious: http://www.americanmusical.com/item--i-CAK-S6PRO.html

I dug out my S3 PE discs with great excitement, but I'll be damned if I can find any Sonitus VST's.

If you could give me some details on this, that would be awesome! All the Sonitus plugs are in my Shared Plugs folders. I thought there were both DX and VST versions, but when I moved the .dll's to my VST folder, the wrapper didn't recognize them and then Sonar told me they were missing.

What am I missing here???
