Well...if you consider that jorgen sometimes implement a feature into a beta the day after it has been requested then it doesn't really matterapropos wrote:That "planned" comment doesn't deem well... So I'm still hoping for video playback

What does this mean?6). Nudge left/right - 4 different types assignable to 8 keys. Dont even get me started on how useful this is when editing audio. In short, it is EXTREMELY useful.
What are the 4 different types? And why do they require 8 keys? Just curious

will v2 have windows audio drivers access ? i suspect not , remember jorgen saying something like the audio driver is open source and if anyone wanna jump in to create this "access" to this drivers, never saw interest in this , so.. (i find myself clicking on the audio tab of that screenshot
)
know there asio4all, but this drivers takes more 20-30 % cpu

3 would be enough actually. The 3 different nudge types could be nudge per frame, per snap settings, or per sixteenth note. Lets say you are trimming an audio clip, after trimming, you might want to move the clip to the left or right PRECISELY to a frame. Ofcourse, you can do this with snap settings, but imagine if you can nudge it per frame, or per sixteenth note or per measure using the keypad. That would be very quick, provide precise control, and would be easy to use too. You need 8 keys if you want to nudge left and right for 4 different nudge types. In this case, 6 keys would be enough (nudge left/right for 3 different types).soma wrote:What does this mean?6). Nudge left/right - 4 different types assignable to 8 keys. Sonar has this exact feature ,and i find myself using it regularly. Its like a jogwheel for moving audio, only thing you're using keyboard instead of a jogwheel. Very nifty.

I would say I like the idea but I would have shortcuts for quickly increasing/decreasing the snap and a modifier key for nudging with the snap off (ctrl+alt+arrow). Then nudge would only have to be per-snap or no snap.
Speaking of snap...
I like the way that Live allows you to switch between a relative snap and a fixed snap.
A fixed snap is something like every 16th, while relative snap is based off of your zoom level so if you use the mouse wheel to zoom in then the snap is a smaller value; if you zoom out then the snap is a larger value. There are 5? levels for relative snap: narrowest, narrow, medium (default), wide, and widest. There is also a snap off setting of course.
[sorry for the hijack but I guess it's relative]

XT2 has nudge with different intervals using shortcuts, mouse drag or mouse wheel
cheers

I already spotted a while ago that you are a Sonar user - however eXT is not Sonar and it will never be - eXT has itsa own workflow and the best advice I can give to you is to adjust yourself to it if you intend to wcontinue working with it...
eXT let's you move the items(parts (=clips), midi-notes, samples) by using keyboard shortcuts and eXT let's you set the snap-resolution by shortcuts so that's the way to go here...

Yeah but you need to hold ctrl to use the keyboard to nudge a midi note, and shift to use <>.
At lest make it still use arrows for both and switch modifers to change between zooming and moving so that you don't have to move your fingers from arrows to qwerty. geeze
This combination should be able to be done without moving hands. So, right on mouse and left on keys, OR left on mofiiers and right on arrows. As it is now, you can't nudge and zoom without moving you hand to and from the arrows to other places.
The ergonomics are awful and it's this type of thing that make users complain about workflow.
(I just realized that because my mouse is set to 3 lines for scrolling, I move 3x snap value when I move the mose wheel one click
It should always do one no matter what.)

Standard QWERTY's have dual ctrl and shift buttons, on top of each other for both hands. No need to move hands at all to change snap or move. Not to zoom either, not even on my notebook without a num pad. I just straighten my finger to zoom in, thumb zooms out. Great ergonomics, and in any case you get custom shortcuts in XT2

well first of all XT2 will have user-definable shortcuts (Jorgen already showed us a screenshot of it)...
then < and z do not need any modifier and last but not least I won't get tired of saying that if you are really serious about such workflow issues you should buy yourself a mouse with additional programmable keys!
