Put the locators at the start and end of your track. Mute anything you don't want in the mixdown.
Go to File>Export>Audio Mixdown (or something). Select the properties of the exported file. If you plan to burn to cd, you want 44.1/16 stereo wav. Remember to include any automation and plugins you are using by clicking in the boxes.
Press ok.
Open a new project, and inport this new stereo wav file.
You are now ready to "master" it.

Mastering is usually associated with a series of tracks, where you balance and polish the overall sound, like when preparing to burn a cd.

Do you really need the "long story"?
I don't think you understood the question ... dblock wants to know how to turn a multitrack into a stereo track so he can produce a final master. What you suggested does not do that .. therefore the :?: icon ...
Well, it's YOU who got it wrong. dblock thinks he need to export two tracks somehow... Read the thread again.. What I'm saying is, all he need is to simply export audio - which will produce ONE audio file. And that's all he need for mastering - if you want it left and right separately, Cubase SX will ask you while importing it back again...

And for mastering I use two tracks with the same audio - to A/B - which means I can compare the result with the original by muting / unmuting the processed or the original audio track.... Is it clear now?

I was responding to this: "Thanks Windschatten. It's basically how to make the 8 tracks of cubase mix into 2 tracks to put into the 2 track mastering part of cubase or any mastering program".. Those "2 tracks" confused me :dog: I was thinking of ONE STEREO track.
