There a several banks of great sounds for FM7 on KVR-> Banks/Patches... however, I cannot seem to install them to FM7 by the Drop Installers method. Has anybody had any luck installing these banks? If so, what was your technique.

Since these are all in the "Native" FM7 format (no pun intended) you won't be able to DIRECTLY use the "drop installers" method. You have two options (and I've done them both):PhilMuller wrote:There a several banks of great sounds for FM7 on KVR-> Banks/Patches... however, I cannot seem to install them to FM7 by the Drop Installers method. 1) put the f7a, f7b, etc files into a directory on Receptor, and load them with the GUI (using the "load bank", "load patch" feature. Once loaded, you can save individual presets as "receptorized patches" (which creates FXP files)
or
2) convert them to FXB (or FXP) using something like Sonar or Tracktion (probably all major sequencers that support VST). You load them into the GUI (the f7a/f7b/etc), then use the host's VST "save" feature ("save bank" creates one FXB for the whole bank, which I find easiest). Then you can install the resulting FXB/FXP files using the "drop installers" method on Receptor.
Hope this helps

Thanks again Hybernation. I have converted all the banks I could get my hands on and placed them in http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/re ... files/FM7/. And like you said... to install them create a fold called "Native Instruments" in "Drop Installers Here" folder and then create a sub folder called "FM7" within that folder and then place all the .fxb files in this folder. From this point you click on the Setup Page and click on "Install". If I find more FM7 banks in native format, I will convert them and place them on Receptorized2 for the group.
