Pianoteq - Looks Like new Modelled Piano

It's fun to play, but it is about as accurate as an M1. Yes, it makes something that sorta sounds like a piano, but...
I've had the best results by ditching the reverb. My observations thus far mirror a couple that Wakax had.
I don't want to be totally negative about the Pianoteq. I do enjoy playing it. It is fun to play!
Too bad it can't be released as a front end to a sample set. The expressiveness it already has combined with a better sound would be killer.
I'll keep plodding away at the demo though to see if it can't be tweaked into something better.

I would add to that that the pedal noise is just bizarre. Nice try at putting that in, but it sounds closer to the sounds my solder-sucker makes than a piano.wakax wrote: - high notes sound more like rhodes / not really acoustic
- very low notes when sustained the resonance sounds like a pattern ( loop ) not really like on a real piano

"Moddled"? Sorry, I always have a hard time to take people seriously when they can't even spell a word like that properly.Cyrosis wrote:dont get angry man, this isnt perfect yet. Personally I am using the Art Vista steinway samples, I have compared the 2 on identicle midi's and find the Pianoteq to be very clearly the loser as far as realism. It of course is still impressive for being fully moddled but as its been said, I dont believe it comptetes with some of the really nice sample libraries.MotorMind wrote:Bullshit. I am sure that nay-sayers like you wouldn't be able to hear the difference between this and a real piano, especially in a mix.ttoz wrote:hmm heard the mp3's, sounds as realistic a piano as donald duck farting. this is crap.

It already has something that sample based pianos dont have. small sizeImprov wrote:Like it or not, Pianoteq has to convince us that it has some thing the sample-based pianos don't.
It also has various sorts of string interactions that sample based instruments don't have.

Gentlemen does a proper spell for the word "bullshit" ( among other ones of the same wood ) even exist ?MotorMind wrote:"Moddled"? Well with all the buzz I've decided to try this now. I have to say that it's a lot better than I expected. Not a perfect emu to be sure but a very playable instrument all the same and with a great sound. It's certainly much fuller sounding than any other piano emulation and comes close to the sound of some of the Digital piano's you can get these days. I think the fullness of sound could be improved further - I'd like to hear more resonance - it still sounds a bit buzzy as the note decays and too dull in the uppers - but for a first effort it's great and better than a lot of the sampled libs I've tried in that at least it feels more alive to play and you can do a lot with the random button too - making some weird prepared piano type sounds etc.
Sustain pedal sound doesn't sound very good though - had to disable that (at least you can). And it could do with more microtuning support (pref tun/scl import) - that would be a must for me to consider buying it.
Oh and kudos to the devs for the wise decision not to have a demo with beeps or silence - for a piano emu that would have totally turned me off and I wouldn't have even bothered installing it.

Well I love piano but I also love new sounds
btw - wish more synths had an undo/redo feature too - with this you can step back and forwards through each change
would be even better if they made it possible to morph this feature or between presets

Wow - I just turned off the default 64 voice limit and turned on sustain and got over 200 notes out of it and still not the slightest glitch - the cpu optimisation on this is very impressive.
Very well thought out gui too - good tooltips and ergonomics
Pity you can't save presets internally - I've got some nice sounds out of this already (is this a demo limit or do you just have to use fxp?)

Hi aMUSEd it will save fxps and load them ok with the demo if I recall. One thing I notice tho is that the preset name dosen't change itself but the data appears to load ok with Fxps.I haven't figured out how the preset menus themselves are altered yet(I have full version),been having too much fun with this.I was knocking out all sorts of off the wall pianos with the random button and just a bit of tweaking....some brilliant ambient, mellowed out pianos to overdriven clavi rezzed basses. Many many moods to be had.

I presume in the full version you can save and name presets internally then? (not like Athmosphere for example)

No, this is currently not possible. Only our adapted models, such as the Schmidt and Schöffstoss pianoforte, will appear internally.aMUSEd wrote:I presume in the full version you can save and name presets internally then? (not like Athmosphere for example)
