DR008 is certainly not a bad product, but before you buy something from them, read the license transfert policy they have.
They ask 50$ for a license transfert, which in case of DR008 is 50% of the value of the product.

I won't comment on this, but at least you know

RMIV is also very good, and comes with a nice library.

Dr Fusion is simply incredible, it has a unique approach and is definitely worth checking.

EZ Drummer.

The add-on packs (like vintage) will be out soon...

+1 for RMIV
Qw, music from twelve weeks in quarantine is now streaming on spotify and bandcamp. This is a collaboration with the the smallest of worlds VR art project, that documents our living spaces in times of isolation. You can join their project here.

Another vote for Jamstix.
With the additional high-quality DrumPaks I have all drum-sounds
I ever need for all kinds of music (Rock,Pop,Jazz, electronic music....)
IMO at least 5 times worth the money

EZDrummer for $159 at scitscat.com (and it is EZ to use). You can always add expansion kits later on if you want.

what are the best free ones? I've been using things like drumatic and just lm7. What is a good sample player that could run those gscw (i think thats the name) samples (that are setup for halion :\)?

There are mappings for the GSCW kits for Nusoftings DK+ (and several other good free kits too). Of course DK+ is not free but very cheap. For free, IIRC there is a GSCW soundfont which can be played in the free SFZ player.

DK+. If you don't like it's library, use your own wavs, so many are available free on the web.

For my self i like to use a program called iDrum to write loops in and it is very in-exspensive.
