awesome, trying it, and YES exactly this i think.IIRs wrote:Something like this?jarzynka wrote: Cool thing about MVC is that it allows you to draw a graphical "curve" (they're really linear points, but if you draw enough points you can approximate a curve) then maps each individual MIDI value to a new value.
Velocity Curve
You will need to set the appropriate MIDI output channel when using it with multi-timbral plugs. I've only tested it very briefly, let me know how you get on.

this is exactly what i wanted. thanks very much IIRs is the SE1 free then we can modify it and all that? i'd like to see about adding input velocity and output velocity meters and easier controls for input and output chn (a 4x4 matrix with all 16 channels) ... if you wanted to i could collab with you on it or if you are done with it can i modify it with help from some other dev? (i dont know SE).
thanks regardless, exactly nailed what i was after, and probably what the OP was after too.

Yes help yourself, the presets took me longer than the plug! The graphics are not included though: they were made for me by Eric Langou ( www.novaflash.com ) and I would need his permission to give them away. Its easy enough to replace the background and switches anyway...grymmjack wrote: is the SE1 free then we can modify it and all that?
Awkward one that: Synthedit doesn't do polyphonic displays... mono would be easy though. Perhaps there are some 3rd party mods that could handle this now, but I haven't heard of any myself.grymmjack wrote: i'd like to see about adding input velocity and output velocity meters

Thanks very much! Just when I was getting annoyed with the response curve of my Keystation 49s in some situations, up pops this... Good timing indeed.
(Haven't actually tried it yet, but at least it shows up in Tracktion so I'll assume it does what it says on the box

I don't mean this as a diss to Eric at all (i don't know the guy, and I like the way the plug looks, so there's no downside intended), but having seen some of grymm's other guis, I suspect that might not be an problem ....IIRs wrote:The graphics are not included though: they were made for me by Eric Langou ( www.novaflash.com ) and I would need his permission to give them away. Hello IIRs,
pethu told m about your VelocityCurve in http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 94#2092294 . It works great on my CubaseSX/energyXT combination.
1. If you are up for it is it possible to add a bypass switch? When I turn it off in energyXT no midi data goes through. It would be best if it turned off that the input data goes out un-edited. This can come in handy for the initial setup.
2 Have the Velocity register the low and high velocity as the note is hit. So the low will be 1 and the high be 127 and then to be able to edit the curve.
Thanks so much for giving the VelocityCurve for free. I would be willing to make a contribution to your favorite charity.
The VelocityCurve I am sure will be a welcome VST midiFX for the Modular users. Is it to post this info in the EnergyXT forum in this thread
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... =0&postord er=asc&highlight=midi+plugins&start=495
and also so the rest of the world knows post in http://www.midiplugins.com/
If you want I can to the leg work. just let me know.
Thanks again for making this extremely helpful tool. I was at the point of considering getting another keyboard.

Hello IIRs,
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. It has been thundering all day here in Tampa and had my computer unplugged.
Thanks for the on/off switch. Works great!
I am trying to build my own curve and am getting closer with every attempt to setting up the v-curves to my liking.
2. Actually I am not even sure what I meant on point 2. I was hoping for some kind of way of inputting the velocity directly from the keyboard. Since my post I have improved on my understanding of the VelocityCurve. It just takes time to do it right. There may be however some way to speed things up. If the velocity can be shown as a line or a point and a number on the graph in real-time it may help.
3. I should have mentioned in my initial post that if you could add "all" to the output drop down menu. It would simplify mattes in my application if the input note did not change as it was outputted.
Thanks again for your continued interest to help. Without your VelocityCurve I would still be in the dark ages of Velocity incompetence.

In reverse order:
3. Tricky! What actually happens at the moment is that incoming MIDI notes are filtered out and replaced with newly generated notes with the same pitch but different velocities. If I added an "all" option to the output channels it would have to generate 16 out-going notes for every one incoming note, and would not be useable with a multi-timbral synth...
What you really want me to do I think, is to pass on incoming midi data unchanged except for the velocity, in which case there would be no need for any channel selectors at all. This might be possible using a 3rd party module but I haven't tried it and won't have time to today. (I'm a bit busy at the moment frankly, but feel free to bump this thread in a week or two if you want!)
2. Meanwhile try this version: same link again

Hello IIRs,
VelocityCurve 04 is great! The new additions are very helpful
On my synth action keyboard 127 is reached with a medium-hard velocity where for me a very hard should be 127. This means all my 127 velocities are in a narrower range from very soft to medium hard. The other problem is that is it difficult to consistently and accurately play soft. Things are much better with the VelocityCurve but in the end I may still have to get a hammer action keyboard.
I will continue to tweak VelocityCurve and maybe keep what I have. If one starts with a great keyboard that the VelocityCurve can make it a phenomenal keyboard. I great keyboard must register 1 at a very-very low velocity and 127 when hitting very-very hard.
Thanks a lot for this great plug-in. It helped me and am sure it will be useful to many other musicians.

Hello IIRs,
1. When reopening a project in Cubase in energyXT on the Virtual Grand Piano, VelocotyCurve has problem with off notes. I delete the VC and the new VC works just fine. Is it something I am dong wrong?
2. I am also have problem opening my custom curves in VC. I have to use the VC File drop down menu in energyXT. Perhaps I am saving the custom files in the wrong location? Gotta let you know even though I am very good at saving and moving files around I always seem to have problem with fxp's. Never got the hang of how it works.
3. You mentioned you may be able to fix "Pass on incoming midi data unchanged except for the velocity" I can work around this but it will be convenient if there was a button that would disable the output channel and make the input channel go out without changing.
Thanks again for all the help.
