Ok, you're lucky that you use Audio Units:

http://www.u-he.com/Z2ScrollAU.zip

:D

Usage:

Just hovering over a knob: Normal wheeling
MouseDown + Wheeling: Fine (normally 0.1 steps)

You have bad luck:

You must test it!

:-o

Does it work with Automation?
Which automation in Logic works for it, if any?

Cheers,

;) Urs

Urs,

If I wasn't marrying the most beautiful Scottish maiden in November I'd marry you! (OK, I'm not bent but you get what I mean) Perfect! Only thing I can't get to work is XY assign page levels (but I don't think that's a big problem).

Automation works for everything perfectly but you can't see it in real time. That is : When in Touch / Latch / Write mode and playing back, scrolling over wheels doesn't seem to do anything but when you stop playback and click on the automation track, it has written everything perfectly!

Excellent job my friend.

Regards

David

Works perfectly in Live 5 and 6 too. And you can see the automation being recorded in real time.

works well so far... it would be easier if right click + wheel equals fine

am testing it

okay...

some people might not like this because it is fairly easy to change parameters without meaning to.

Also, it make scrolling when there are many active modules somewhat funny. You can position the mouse over no knob and scroll down the modules, but if you stop with the mouse over a knob, pause a moment or two, then scroll again, it is easy to change that knob parameter by mistake.

I like this, but maybe I would like it better to have something like right button + wheel = coarse and alt + right button + wheel = fine. Something so that just wheel is reserved for scrolling and that it is not quite so easy to change a parameter without intending to.

See what others think too.

make it a option?

i think alt + wheel would be better for fine tuning

could it be set so u need to click a parameter before mouse wheel will control it?

just my ideas

I think if you are paying attention to what you are doing you won't accidentally change parameters. Only suggestion I would make is as djsubject suggested to make alt + wheel for fine tuning, although I believe the convention amongst most plugins is shift and wheel for this feature.

I think this is a great addition to a great synth.

Okay, here's my guess:

I'll make it available in a 2.x update, so I take it out for now. It could become a major issue otherwise.

The idea is, there's gonna be a global preference where people can switch behaviours to their liking (coincidentally a similar thing just came up in the beta thread).

Btw. the behaviour of modifier keys came up due to quite thorough research of the beta team, about what's common on which platform. That's why the modifiers are laid out as they are, and why they are different on Mac and PC.

Hi Urs,
Is it OK for me to keep using the current AU with the scrollwheel action? I mean there won't be anything major different with the final release? I just find it so intuitive and a productivity enhancer.

Yeah, just use it. I don't think there will be any more changes, other than cosmetic stuff ( "Vol" vs. "Volume" in oscillator labels etc.).

However, you'll want to download the final for the extra presets, of course 8)

... and should there be differences, it costs me 10 minutes to re-enable the scrollwheel, compile and upload. As I said, no big drama ;)

;) Urs

Excellent Urs. Many thanks.

Hi Urs,
Any chance of the scrollwheel version of the final release? Just when you get a moment.
Thanks and regards

Yes. I'll bother with this and I have finished the *concept* for personal preferences. It's just a matter of hours to implement this upon free time... will also work for Filterscape then...

However, you can still use your personal build for the time being!
