Me too. I've tried, and I just can't see any point in what is requested here...I'm still kind of in the dark as to why this kind of setup would be useful...but perhaps I am simply missing something obvious here.

Again the problem is that I need all the incoming signals to be compressed together and then split out.. In XT I'm able to create a compressor that I route the desired instruments/tracks to, duplicate the effect and then invert the individual signals as to 'solo' individual instruments/tracks while retaining the compressor effect (on each instrument). As I stated before it doesn't always work. I get 'cross talk' from the 'muted' or 'inverted' signal cause the overall signal is obviously a bit different once a given sound is subtracted from processing.. I guess I was an effect out there that would give better isolation..brok landers wrote:well, as you say ... why not build it in xt by your self?Lagrange wrote:It would work in a modular host like energy XT or Audiomulch..
all you need is 3 times the same compressor and 3 times the same eq and there you are ...
sure, it would be more elegant to have all in one gui, but at least, if there is no such compressor, you have a way to do so ...

I understand that it might seem a little weird for me to ask if there is such an effect.. The reason I need this is, is to be able to render out compressed tracks to separate wav files. Hey this is a good start. Thanks..acousmod wrote:DX / VST, 8 channels, not multiband : http://www.acondigital.com/SN_Features.htmIs there a multi band compressor plugin with multiple input output channels?
VST, 5.1, not multiband : http://www.starplugs.com/
TDM only, 5.1 : http://www.cycling74.com/products/octirama
VST / AU, 5.1 : http://www.waves.com/content.asp?id=56

I could cheat if there are respective input channels and output channels on the plugins.. Still searching....

So if I understand correctly, you want to have 'the same' compression on each track, but keep the tracks separate?
Like e.g. first summing all the tracks, and then side-chaining that into the compressor, and compress each track separately like that?

Yes exactly!!M'Snah wrote:So if I understand correctly, you want to have 'the same' compression on each track, but keep the tracks separate?
Summing at the compressor from separate tracks 1st.. Then back out to separate channels..M'Snah wrote:Like e.g. first summing all the tracks, and then side-chaining that into the compressor, and compress each track separately like that?

Ok here is another crude image of how I have it setup in XT..

NOTE: The inverter may also be before the compressor...
Then when I mute one of the channels on either channel group 1 or 2 , the muted sound becomes a indvidual compressed sound BASED ON ALL INPUT CHANNELS. I repeat this for all the separate channels and render out the separate sounds.. This method is unpredictable..

I still see no point in it...but QuantumFX will do what you want. You'll have to create your own plugin within QFX though. It has filters, compressors, mixers etc and as it's modular, you can feed any inputs/outputs wherever you want. I can't tell you off-hand what type of filters it contains (i.e. I don't know how strong they are and what kind of slope they have...may not be severe enough filters for this particular kind of band-splitting) but I feel fairly confident that QFX can do it.
I do know there's no ready made preset like this within QFX, so it really would be up to you to do the work on it.

The summing / side-chain solution will do the trick, why make it more complex than that?
And are you planning to do anything specific with the compressed tracks? or just summing them?

If I have a real hard time whipping up something in Quantum I will definatly be using sidechaining and or my original setup.. Thanks!M'Snah wrote:The summing / side-chain solution will do the trick, why make it more complex than that?
