Mine seems to randomly work and not work. It will always work with a MIDI cable but not always with the USB cable.thesoundsmith wrote:Philosorhyme, once it is connected and the Receptor is powered up, you can't disconnect the USB cable, and shouldn't turn it off. this causes Receptor to lose the connection. You will have to reboot. But don't disconnect or power down and you should be fine, my 61 has never lost a byte under 'normal' conditions.

So your keyboard loses connection completely and randomly while using USB? Do you have it powered via USB when you are using it with the MIDI cable, or do you have it powered with an AC adaptor?philosorhymes wrote:Mine seems to randomly work and not work. It does not randomly lose connection. If the cable connection is secure and the power is left on, the keyboard never loses connection. It loses connection when the USB cable is disconnected or the keyboard is powered off. Once unconnected, it will not automatically re-establish connection when the physical/electrical connection is restored. I believe this is an issue Muse is trying to address (Kermit? Can you cmment?)
For stage use, though, I use it powered by the USB cable with no problem. It ships without a power supply, and I've never tried one with it (standard 12VDC 1./2A wall wart) but I doubt it would matter - once the handshake is broken, the link goes away.)
For large-scale operations like arena or theater touring, I would recommend a UPS for the Receptor and any keyboard power supplies, and some sort of device or velcro etc. to hold the cables firmly in place before the cable strain points. And for really major gigs, have a backup rig - but if you have ever played those gigs you alredy know that... The good news - the USB keyboards are really cheap. The bad news? The USB keyboards are really cheap...
(Either way, the Receptor isn't, but you could be lugging a B3 instead of B4.)

uhm. . .every usb midi controller I've ever owned with any DAW app I've ever owned does that. Why WOULD it be able to reconnect without relaunching your app/resetting device?thesoundsmith wrote:It does not randomly lose connection. US in my experience will recognize a properly-written device when connected, and then disconnected and reconnected. maybe it really doesn't work and I've just never hit the wrong combination of events, but the Axiom definitely loses it with Receptor...

Mine seems to work intermittently, I do not disconnect and reconnect as soundsmith is suggesting, I simply connect it to the USB port fire up Receptor and most times I'm fine but occasionally (following the same procedure) My receptor would not receive MIDI data from the Axiom, the axiom powers up but no MIDI is received (on my receptor) at these times if I plug in a MIDI cable things work fine.controlphr33k wrote:So your keyboard loses connection completely and randomly while using USB? If nobody is experiencing this then maybe I will take a trip to my store and ask for a replacement, I just hope it is not my receptor playing up. I've no way of telling which is the culprit.

On a slighty different subject then the Axiom, I am looking for a good controller keyboard with piano-weighted keys and enough controller options. Does anyone know of a good one?

the DAW app has to be able to pick up where it left off as well. . that is where the problem lies I believe. I can unplug and replug my axiom and it always comes right back to life with Windows recognizing it. . .its only when the application is accessing that driver that it becomes an issue. I believe this would happen with any USB MIDI controller. You keep implying that this is specific to the Axiom, but that's just not the case.thesoundsmith wrote:US in my experience will recognize a properly-written device when connected, and then disconnected and reconnected. maybe it really doesn't work and I've just never hit the wrong combination of events, but the Axiom definitely loses it with Receptor...
