What is missing from Cubase 4

I'm very impressed with this update, what's missing for me is...

- Melodyne type features
- 64 bit audio engine (huge surprise this wasn't included)
- Flexible group routing

I don't mind the new look, but I still think that Logic looks 100 times better ... this is just my opinion. I was hoping for a more modern round 3D look that logic has, instead it has moved more into the 2D graphics. Maybe it'll feel different in use.

What is this forum missing ?
People who have actually "used" Cubase before criticising it and saying it's unstable

How many instruments do you want?! Don't forget the 30 new plugins and 20 re-worked plugins.

I'd rather have 30 new Instruments or 20 re-worked ones than useless cheap plugins...

Wait for Vista dude, you probably don't know but XP 64x is kind of unsuported by MS, read the fine print. Steinberg takes prematurity very seriously. :hihi:
As I've posted probably a dozen other times elsewhere on KVR:

64 bit mixing != 64 bit VST interface != 64 bit binary

With respect to the audio engine, people generally mean mixing (a.k.a. summing). I personally prefer to think of a 64 bit audio engine as also including 64 bit from the VST interface.

A 64 bit binary is just about whether your code is compiled for x64-64 processors on an x64-64 OS, and is absolutely irrelevant to sound quality.

64 bits for crap music = crap music in 64 bits :D

Anyways some retards will use the c4 release as laughing stock to deliver some Overused jokes on cubase, dating from the time they still had hairs ;) .

Not sure I see your point there.

I understand the concept, my souncard upsamples to X128, some plugs too...upample resolution as well. Do you find necessary? well i don't know. what kind of dithering do you plan to use.

I will not upgrade

I dont need Steinberg plug-ins, I need normal in-place score editor and in-place drum editor.
None of those were included, even though many users have asked for it.

I will envelope generate for food !

I cant believe they didn't upgrade the:

Generic Remote!!
Editing of Freezed tracks !
and flexible group channel routing !

How long are people screaming for this????

If they made any upgrades on these issues, I take back my words. but i couldn't find anything about this in the PDF..

Post

yeha it seems i got deal with old Generic Remote forever.

Noveable freeze parts? that's something only on the last weeks people is talking at Cubase.net... moving and freezing, i don't know it seems one defeats the other.
Did you read the specs of VST3 plugs, howmuch more flexible can it get?

Post

I reckon I'll skip this, and spend my upgrade money I had in place for Cubase 4 and Komplete 4 on Melodyne. Nothing new for me here.
Three shall be the number of the counting

And the number of the counting shall be three.

What's missing? Looks like they didn't make automation more flexible. I like the way you can just create envelope tracks and then copy and assign them wherever you want in EnergyXT.

About Melodyne - looks like "the real thing" costs about as much as Cubase itself. Does any other sequencer offer this already? If no I wonder why so many people expected this...

Flexible routing would also have been a nice addition.

Simple sidechaining would have been nice.

EDIT: the new Gate has a sidechain function, I just read. http://www.steinberg.net/994+M52087573ab0.html

Will I be able to route FX send channels to groups?

That's all I want, and I may cry if they haven't fixed this.

Post

How will 64bit improve the sound? Not trolling, just curious...
