kylen wrote:Thanks Jens - I was having trouble hearing this at first on a stereo cassette transcribed track in Sonar5. But then I cloned the stereo track, inserted MSED Encoder before antiflutter, set all antiflutter params to 0 on the MID track, tweaked the params on the SIDE track, routed the 2 tracks back to MSED Decoder buss. Now I have some real nice flutter and can hear what I'm doing. I didn't try your method of putting a delay in that you mention in the instructions.

Anyway I'm trying to get this stereo track to sound better - I'm thinking the stereo sides might benefit from antiflutter. The cassette is pretty worn and the highs seem to warble (maybe not flutter) but anyway...thanks for the tool! Kind of just a status report! :)
Well... I'm sure the idea could be developed to encompass all sorts of absolute-time-dependent cyclical processing. There seem not to be any plugs which do this. I can imagine for instance if there is damage on a tape caused by a magnetic field or some physical degradation, where the damage is cyclical with a predictable, decreasing frequency (assuming the tape was stored tail-out). Eg.. volume changes, eq changes etc. Perhaps problems like these could be better solved with some sort of generalized plug -- one which just generates automating information according to some rule.

Of course nobody would write something like this unless they really needed it =)

Thanks Jens! I have absolutely no use for this but there's nothing I love more than free plugs! It's one of those things in life along side food and sex that just make me happy to be here now. Keep up the good work!

absolutely - Thanks Jens!
this is going to be handy if I can work out the flutter speed :)

i have a more prominent with phase cycling on some of my tapes. do you think there might be any way to cancel out this artifact?

Phase cycling? Hmm, I am not sure what you mean, like.. do you mean maybe that the tape was "snaking" past the head on recording, and changing the apparent azimuth?

If it's on playback, get a better tape player =)

Well maybe if you run one instance of antiflutter and then mix in the unprocessed signal? But come to think of it, that probably wouldn't cancel what i think you mean with "phase cycling" because I think that's more of a lowpass deal than a comb filter..

I HATE ANALOG TAPES AAAARAGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

hahaha
