I suppose that means everything except your sax, guitars, near Godzilla-loud drums and your damned 4-channel '65 Marshal!?! C'mon, a tiny, littel sharky-warky is hardly going to be the straw that breaks this camel's back.
fred2112 wrote:The point is.....If a frequency feedback, its cause the area around the frequencies are to hi on the spectre.
On a PA properly tune, if a feedback come its defiantly cause you haven't tune the vocal properly(in normal situation).
The point is, do not let a a crappy berhinger machine notch 6 or 8 frequencies and degrade your vocal sound when you can use a gentle ''good'' eq with the proper 'Q' factor to do the proper correction.
Yes, that's right, a 1/60 octave wide filter is going to destroy your sound. The whole wonderous point of the thing is that it has virtually no audible effect on the sound, except to supress feedback.
.......You don't need a feedback killer.....
Not if you're the headline act and you have access to the venue from midday, or if you just stand there and sing into a microphone on a stand, but if you're one of the support acts or you're playing a festival its a luxury you just don't get. I can get on stage anywhere, without a soundcheck and skream my lungs out into my distortion pedal with 100% confidence that I will never have to worry about feedback, no matter how loud the foldback is or where I run around on stage or in the audience with my hand-held mic.
so if you need it then you need to learn how to tune a PA...or mix in live environment!!..........only good for conference and that kind of &%$#
You are an ignorant, blinkered sack of shit. It is an absolute godsend for me. When the hell am I ever going to be in a position where I get to tune a PA, or even where one gets tuned to needs even remotely similar to mine? Its just a big risk that I don't need to take.

Why? Have you ever used one? Even seen one? You obviously haven't seen the price because they are only US$99. But you got the "magic" part right, they are absolute magic.

Exactly.

It's only 99$. Damn, that's insane. I will get one and thanks again for recommending it. Though I've gone away with the sax + fx and the damned guitar and drum players that'll just mean I can actually run around and turn my volume up to unbearable levels for once.

And scream through Lost Technology.

I believe we are not talking about the same kind of stage.

For sure that the most useful machine in a little bar !

... but is there a feedback killer VST effect already???
Any interested developer reading this?

well put a microphone in front of the speaker ...insert a analyzer crank up the volume and notch the frequencies with any parametric EQ !

After a couple years of mixing experience you don't need analyzer anymore !

So you better start to do it by ear now so in a year you be able to to cut a feedback in a second during the show ! .....and once against ...if you have a EQ, at least a 31 bands or better....there is no need for that machine !

Of course we are. We've played at huge festivals [well, a huge festival anyway] and you just don't get time to do any of that stuff. There is nothing more difficult than trying to eliminate feedback when you do your vocals through a distortion pedal and you run around the stage with a hand-held mic. Its orders of magnitude more difficult than getting rid of feedback from an untreated vocal mic or a guitar mic.

Or plug your microphone into your Shark and forget about it. You don't even have to turn it on - you set it up the first time you use it and from then on it just works.

Who mixes on stage? I mean, I do but I've never seen anyone else do it beyond maybe consolidating their hardware synths into a single stereo pair.

Or spend $99 and not have to worry about it next week. What is your problem with this? What is the precision of a 31-band EQ? 1/3 of an octave? That's 20 times less precision than a Shark and a decent one would cost more and be considerably larger to cart around. Then you'd need a gate as well. And a compressor/limiter. There are plenty of things that I think ought to be done manually but eliminating feedback would not be in the top 100, not even close. That krap is for the PA engineer, I have far more creative things to be getting on with.

I agree. The $99 Shark is worth not having to worry about it. I don't do much with mine, but my circumstance is different. Which is why I can't decide if I should get rid of mine or not.

Plus, it's not like the feedback killer is all you get with it.

Hmmm, maybe I SHOULD sell it. Surely I could get $50 or so out of it, eh? It's one of those things that I don't use, but don't know if I should get rid of it in case I DO need it.

I still endorse it though. Great value.

Hey, any of you young'uns know if Pikachu is a boy or a girl? I'm not sure which, myself, but I'd kinda like to mate with it.

the point is if you cant cut it yourself and/or you don't have the time or expertise to do it and you don't mind about the sound to much.........

Well buy it !!!

The formula for good sound is low stage volume.

in fact a lot of these major shows that have tons of marshall cabs on stage are actually using dummy cabs that have no speakers and are purely for show, the actual amp being smaller, and offstage.

it allows you to have the good sound in the mains without it being mucked up. guitars sound better, bass and drums sound better and vocals/instruments finally work right.

theres definately a lot of players out there that substitute volume for talent, but they make it as hard on themselves as anyone literally blowing themselves out of gigs.
