I think you missed the second phase of this with where I mentioned ACID! Anyway, one can only hope that they didn't mention it, but I doubt it. But we should keep the pressure up on Steinberg! It's the only way.TeeLangSun wrote:Actually, a good number of the popular sequencers have it, and have had it for a long time. Let's see, Orion Platinum, FL Studio, Sonar, Tracktion, Logic Pro, Acid, and at leat a couple others I can't think of off hand. That feature was at the top of my list too and a lot of people did "recently" begin to ask about it over on Cubase.net recently. I was hoping that it would lead to Steinberg adding it. It's also not a feature that I've ever seen mentioned in a featurelist so, maybe they added it and just didn't feel it worthy of mentioning. I hope that's the case.bduffy wrote:It doesn't have to be in there. Almost no hosts have or are promising this feature and I think it's something that's only started to be requested relatively recently.
Not that I wouldn't love this feature! My God, this would make life so much easier! But I wouldn't hold my breath. Make sure you send them a feature request, though; they won't know if you don't tell them.
Will Cubase 4 have batch track export?

To ease up our painful (in a very nerdy way) upgrade wait, the borg released all Cubase 4 documentation already: http://www.steinberg.de/1044_1.htmlbduffy wrote:Shit. The bus limitation is something they really need to change.Kingston wrote:I leafed through the manual, and it doesn't seem to be there.
Same with the can-only-route-to-higher-numbered-bus limitation.
Still there.
Both of these should've been taken care of, very frequently whined about and mentioned at cubase.net.
at least they're both relatively minor hitches.
And where is this damned manual?
and here's an interesting thread labelled "Cubase 4 FAQ", which to me reads as "all-the-things-you-wanted-but-we-didn't-implement": http://forum.cubase.net/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=55696
so much for the audio engine rewrite folks.
it really seriously truly f**king better be *SOLID*.
Otherwise this can be scrapped and filed under "yet another steinberg slap-on feature galore".
*sigh*
looking forward to the promised SX3 maintenance upgrade to be honest, not C4.

Sidechaining, but not the flexible routing was mentioned. The excuse was "we don't want to overload you" - yeah right, lame excuse if you ask me. The next "update" (4.1) will be in like 1 year. Till then, back to the old habits.stag wrote:Flesible routing and sidechain will be on next revion of C4.
Anyway... I'd like to remind you that Cubase was first aimed at Hardware controlling and Multitrack Recording, which is still it's essential feature. Only over time the people were more like "let's ditch hardware and move to pure software basis" and the outcry for "bouncing" (several tracks at once) came up even more.
While it'd be a nice feature to have (especially with those orchestra patches, though "freezing" the instrument, not the FX, works too), it wasn't desired and "needed" in the first place.
There's a macro tool out however, which can bounce 200 tracks automatically. Takes a while though, but it's your best choice at the moment, along with Freezing (which works better "built in" than FX Freeze does - at least for me).
So yeah...

I wanted the batch export solely for archiving purposes and full compatibility with other
platforms.
I usualy do a folder track were i put the deactivated MIDI and its corresponding wave and cut and paste all the same, if i need further editing switch on the VSTi+fx and do it, export clip again. I think it beats freeze buy a long margin.
With audio tracks i use chainers just to e able to offline EQ, CP, Amp sims etc.
I wanted Batch export since day one, i could still be on SX1, my workflow didn't change since then aside not having to push forward some tracks.

Also now i have other request: just to enhance compatibility, don't mind batch export, just make Cubase Rewire slave too.
It's very reasonable since Q is licenced to a key not a machine, i can ntall it on any machine
i fancy, as long as there is an USB port.
So if i go to other studio as long as the owner has an host with rewire i'm cool.
Let's see if steinberg, or any major, has what ittakes to do it.

Hmm. Thanks for the link, I knew I"d seen that somewhere. The FAQ is less-than-exciting, and there is no engine-rewrite, but oh well, I think it looks pretty enticing.
