Not to mention the fact that the delay is already present with options in curve selector/curve settings...this is "the shit", huh?

Post

It is indeed.
It's amazing that I can move forwars with previously impossible performace options. I've written a truly huge amount of music that until the last 2 years was impossible to record (unless suddenly endowed with tons of cash or some sort of super-band) and, except for computer power, all of it is possible now.

I barely imagined what it'd be like to somehow perform any music like this, and I think a werid combination of recorded bits and live playing (I used to get to play solos all the time ;)) should actually be feasible.

It's fun to be continually amazed and impressed with our musical tool, isn't it?

About my previous post
 ...it is the volume, not the delay, that is predefined.

Weird, I thought I understood what you meant before, but I guess I don't.

I can't believe how easy it is to run a mic into Usine, toss a delay in there, then hook up an envelope-to-data and a zerocross-to-data module and send their outputs into the delay time and feedback parameters, respectively, and get something pretty close to a less complex version of my Narcissus+Echo plugin.

And that's only the beginning.

Any idea why there's an entirely separate audio-to-midi module in the add-on downloads? Doesn it work differently somehow?

Damn, there's a lot of fun stuff in there.

I really, really wish since you can make modules in C++ that I could cajole a programmer to feck about and make some more stuff for Usine! :) It's brilliant.

What a crazy looking patch that is. Seems to do this

Pitch estimation/threshhold detection to create MIDI note-on/note-off and, then, MIDI out . Like he read your mind...an envelope-to-data and a zerocross-to-data are part of the package. Can you mic into this patch yet? Looks made for you...

The first curve displayed is predefined and is volume...delay is easily assignable by selecting the first user curve (not volume), then changing curve settings.

I'm trying to get the data patches to make Zio's Sax-O-Phunk VSTi play but I don't properly understand his plug yet and aren't really sure what the connections in the Usine modules are yet so it's not quite as straightforward as I'd hoped but I'll try to figure it out in the manual and keep pluggin' away at it.

Post

Hmmm, Sax-O-Phunk had a little buddy called...
http://mokafix.chez-alice.fr/Breath_controller.rar
didn't it
"detect volume and difference between and [a] vowels. you can set both detectors to any midi cc#."? <from http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... sc&start=0 >

You were all over that thread so you prolly already tried that? Was on a long list of stuff-to-try, what did you think (as a sax player)?

Post

I just don't understand how to route such things in Usine, but today thus far I've not gotten into Usine due to other dreaded RL crap.

I made a myspace page while hanging out with a friend for my new midget bandmate and my's project on the idea that we'll be playing live again soon so I'd really better master it quickly, eh? :)

I do seem to remember DLing that but I think it might only exacerbate the fact that I can't seem to get a note out of it.

I want the pitch-to-midi thing to generate the note from my voice... doesn't it send midi not on messages?

Post

SubPatches...insane routing possibilities...getting used to "wires"...

I'm getting there...lots going on. Any luck?

Mic stuff is really new to me. I am trying to set up different scenes/patches/whatever in different hosts as vocal tracks. Wandering minstrels have a way of wandering through and if I'm not ready they may just wander off again too soon...

Minor update, not really essential if you don't have any trouble with the actual version.

new features
new "clear" buton in the automation curves

fixed bugs
for small width patches in sequencer
midi record in the midifile player, crashes some time...

If one must make a donation for the software to operate, then it is not donationware--it's payware, irrespective of the amount.

just FYI, is all... :|

To confuse matters more, it's still perfectly possible to get the older, donationware versions and use those.

I dunno. Before it was donated to me I was using the donationware version intermittently learning my way around.

It kicks some serious ass, though. I'm flummoxed by some of the unique options and the fact that you can connect everything, it's so modular!, you can just stuff CV-data type stuff into an audio channel if you feel like it, won't break anything. Makes me happy.

So...this looks interesting.
