I wish I had a list of all the names this thread has had....I agreed when Rene said it would be out in the fall to be more optimistic and less critical. With the exception of some offhand sarcastic comments I have stayed true to that.
However, it's that time of year now isn't it? We have seen nothing but the xmas tube. There are a few people here who seem to believe enough that I think they might have an inside track. So actually I do not believe this vaporware.
Having said that, we live in a world that offers us many choices for our purchases, it's not like this only amp sim out there. I have read some peoples cool workarounds, SF suggesting using eXT as just a router for sims is a great idea. I am very happy with my PODs, Sansamp and my Boogie half stack. The future only looks brighter for amp sims.
Last spring and last fall I said the same thing I'm about to say now (but those times I decided to give him one more chance). It's now not about the product at all or it's quality. In fact I'd feel the same if he came out with some other groundbreaking software that everyone had to have, I just simply would not give him my business. I'm sorry Rene, I respect you as a person, as a programmer and as friend. But I do not think you're an honest businessman, and that I can't even accept...let alone respect. I would not give someone in the physical world my business for much less than you've displayed here...at least I'll never have to find out what your customer service is like.
If I were the powers that be at KVR I would give serious consideration to banning you from selling any product here at all because of this. I think you have disgraced KVR and made a mockery of what it is. I think you had a genuine bite at the apple, but I think you felt more like having a hotdog...it would seem to me that if you return now for that apple because you never found that hotdog you might find it's gone.
I'll always respect you as a friend, we have shared some nice PMs...but do not expect any form of support for any your products from me.

I cannot believe this: Midiworks does not deserve a ban!Hink wrote:.. If I were the powers that be at KVR I would give serious consideration to banning you from selling any product here at all because of this. I think you have disgraced KVR and made a mockery of what it is.
There have been many ill posts here, that were disrespectful, and I haven't seen strict moderation at all.
Midiworks has done nothing illegal, inappropiate except for 'thinking out loud' and discussing his progress of the development.
In my book he has done nothing wrong, except maybe sharing a bit too much info and people getting excited and aking.
But that is not illegal or inappropiate.
I honestly believe that this quarter the Amp will be on my harddisk.
I just haven't decided yet on which drive I'll put it: D, E or F...

read again...I did not say midiworks should be banned, I just think this is so absurd that perhaps they should not allow him to pedal his pluggin here....perhaps that's too strongly worded for you, but that doesn't matter, my point is that the constant let down is a betrayal of trust....I'm not sure about you, but trust is one of the first things I consider before making a purchase.MrM wrote:I cannot believe this: Midiworks does not deserve a ban!Hink wrote:.. I'm not saying he's a thief or dishonest really, I just don't know if I can trust him to stand behind the pluggin and in the physical world I would not accept this. So therefore I would be a hippocrate if I felt otherwise...he has shown only bad businessman ship here imo...is that a trend you would like to see continued?

hink, i totally agree here. Midiworks barely made good on his simple duox plugin, which im still not even sure is available...
however, this amp sim project is just fishy.

Hm, technical question: Can a product, classified as "vapourware", even become "abandonware"?
If so, this amp sim would qualify for sure.

Everybody has dreams, turning them into reality is another thing.
I have no bad feelings towards Midiworks, he probably wants to have a perfect product and can not come to grips with the fact that reality does not live up to the dream.
I believe he is passionate about this plug and does NOT do it for the money only.
If it was just about the money he could have made some already.
So Midi swallow your pride and release what you have now.
Price it accordingly.
If you keep on chasing that $200 dream plug, you will eventually loose both the dream and the money.
A simple upgraded XmasTube is nothing to be ashamed of and for $29.99 it will sell like hotcakes.

That's what I've been saying for ages and ages.AndrewSimon wrote: A simple upgraded XmasTube is nothing to be ashamed of and for $29.99 it will sell like hotcakes.
For every one person who can pay $200+ for an amp sim suite, there is probably 10 people who can't/won't pay that who would consider cheaper products.
It doesn't have to dominate the world to have a positive impact.
