TLs Saturated Driver is good quality and free, I don't know how it compares to C1 though.

Currently in alpha and free (no GUI also). But it has a great sound and lots of parameters to tweak

You should try the free Kjaerhus Classic comp. I don't know C1, but the Kjaerhus plugs are very so I am sure you will find a use for it.
