No, seriously, you missed my point. All I said was if you WANT to do super clean acoustic jazz, you might not use to much saturation. If you don't want, then use it like you feel... matter of taste imho.

All I intended to say is that I think it's not a good idea to generally use saturation on every track, because the musical style has also something to do with it... it's not that this kind of technique improoves generally a mix, but those mixes that should sound warm, a bit dirty/muddy. That's all...

MixSaturator isn't tape, it is not a tube, and it isn't analog. Its creators have tried to emulate some characteristics of some analog components, but it isn't the same. The point is, does it sound good when used in all channels. Has anyone tried that?

It is always the first plugin in my mastering chain. I use different settings for different songs and I spend a lot of time with the bass and treble circuits getting everything just right. As someone else pointed out, if you're using it on every channel with identical settings you are going to get the same result by putting it on your master for a fraction of the CPU hit. Or you could do what we do with various distortion effects - put them on a send with full-on settings and dial up an appropriate amount for each channel. Only a complete goose would even think of putting one on every channel.

yes Kingston you got something good going on over there! but most people will be late to understand this one. with that said if I were you I would set up a tutorial in energyxt or some other app to display what it does and were its proper place in the mix. me so far its the first plug on the 2 buss

Retroband for sure does make things more 'gluey' or 'saturated' or 'fatter' or whatever you want to push with it. <3

I often use Vintage Warmer on the master buss. But not on every track.

Charles Dye appears to have his own style of mixing that works great for him. But Im not sure it would be wise to attempt to emulate it to closely. The inexperienced (and by that I dont mean you) might become convinced that a 'more is better' philosophy is the way to mix given a brief glance of Dye's DVD.

Iv never found this to be case.

Theres putting stuff on all channels....and PUTTING STUFF on all channels..40-50% is way to much...try 10-15 tops....and yes check for gain changes and adjust....PSP Mix saturator is a great plug but since experimenting with saturation and all the wave shaping type plugs...less is most definatly more.unless you are looking for NoISE! of course...if that helps...check G-clip...great plug!

There are many tricks to make stuff sound fat and warm without saturation.....good light compression (Voxengo Marquis to name but one) on selected track can impact a mix to great effect for a more analogiznessingtonskikoval sound!

Using your analog summing trick with Cubase and it does make a difference to my ears. A mixsat on each side, valve 2 15%...thanks for the tip!!

I have tried it on a bunch of tracks with good results...but you are right..10-15 tops...

Yep it sure does, it gives a some what better "mix glue" than normal... have you tried Christortion yet? Adds 1-9th order harmonics and works a treat on bass and the Drum Buss to further emulate the analog style ITB.
