Thanks all!

I have been trying to listen to cafe tracks, but the speakers on my work pc are broken and the isp for my home pc is undergoing repair, so listening is kinda tough.

Sorry.

Post

drums are well done, some nice double kicks in there
this is a great song, very catchy

'Foucaults Pendulum' by Eco, correct.

The most symbolically charged fart joke in all of literature.
Guys, don't miss this gem! :hail:
Thank You very much, sir!

I can bump this because I didn't write it.

But c'mon people!

I have gotten much better reactions from much crappier tracks than this!

Well, the song doesn't really do it for me (it's a bit dated or something), but your drumming is bloody GREAT, mate!!!!

I quite enjoyed this; good song
Good luck on further production; definately worth it

If but only one thing; what my ears noticed is the 'overly' use of the crashcymbals. Perhaps its part of the style, but to me it was a bit too much.

Yes, it is very much a part of the style of this song, (although it is a ride, not a crash).

But the harsh sibilance is not part of the style, but is due to bad recording practice and (most of all) crappy mikes.

Our technique and equipment have improved considerably since we tracked this (over 2 years ago!) and that is the main reason for redoing it.

Thanks for listening all!

I really like the feel of this song, but I have to admit, the drums and the high-end of the vocals sound like a poorly rendered MP3 file. They have that watery distorted sound to them. Media Player is saying that it's encoded at 126 kbps.

Perhaps what I am hearing is due to the 126 kbps rather than a more standard 128 kbps. Maybe my decoder doesn't know what to do with the 126 kbps.

There is a track on the recent Paste magazine (the one with Thom Yorke on the cover) CD that sounds alot like this - it's one of my favorite tracks on the CD.

I can't wait to hear a re-do of the track - it is a killer feel.

Thanks for listening.

And the artifacts you are hearing are probably more due to phase cancellation than anything else.

The fact is, we recorded the drums for this long ago, before we really knew what we were doing, and the songwriter/guitarist stubbornly kept laying tracks on top of it.

He only consented to the redo when the mix just would not gel, and even then he was reluctant.

I hope to have the drums for this song and the rest of the album retracked by November. When the other parts will be done and the mixdown attempted is another story entirely.

Thanks again!
