I don't think it is the best ever but I really like and use the Waves Renaissance EQ often.

I'd say probably Algorithmix Red EQ at it's full quality level.

Oh, and forget about running it in realtime. Takes over 400% cpu on my Athlon 3200+ but it does sound 'flawless', that is, you really don't hear ANY artefacts at all. Things just simply disappear or increase in volume.

I'm surprised its using that much on a 3200+, I downloaded the demo version of peq Red and running realtime in wavelab I can run the High mode around 25%. Switch to max ultra that jumps to about 68% and the audio stutters a bit. But then I increased wavelabs buffer setting and the stuttering went away. (This is all on the single core btw, so in reality its using 12.5% and 34% in each case.

One thing I did notice is that its cpu usage is very erratic at the highest settings, seems to jump up and down like crazy.

Forgot to mention , this is on 4400+ X2

Yeh, my 400% measure comes from the wavelab monitor window, it's probably not accurate at all when the computer basically "freezes".

Anyhow, remeber, when you change the quality level in any of the algorithmix EQs you need to REMOVE it first from the "algorithmix rack" thing and RELOAD it. Only upon reloading does it actually change the quality. This had me bummed for a long time.

My readings too were from the Wavelab monitor, which matched what the more accurate AMD Power Monitor was telling me the usage was on one of the cores.

I downloaded the very latest demo of the red, its standalone single plug, no reloading necessary (in fact reloading resets it to low), it DOES change quality in realtime flipping the switch.

Wow.. gotta email them for a new demo I guess (mine is from beginning of last year). Maybe they have also optimized the code? In any case, sounds very promising! Maybe I can finally run it in full quality, in realtime, on a single CPU? That would be awesome!

Stop the press!. I only just realised if you right click on it, there's a 'cpu optimised' checkbox.

If you check it, cpu usage literally halfs with the peq red!.

Now on the highest Xtra mode it uses around 31% cpu on single core on my dual core 4400.
