quite simply.

alt+right click at top of the playlist, select "insert new time signature" and select your beats/bars.

after that point, the representation on the playlist shifts, to reflect the new time sig.

more beats per bar, etc.

the reason the measure numbers are important are for event automations and such. Also, for keeping track...

Im sure if you work in one time sig per song alot this isnt an issue for you.

The easiet way for Gol to make some folks like Jason happy and not have to truly rewrite the Playlist logic is to implement a marker system so that you can just drag the little bar numbers where you want them at the top of the playlist. Then if you simply must know you are in bar 112, you just drag over a little box just like you'd drag a 'guide' in photoshop. Perhaps it would even let you click into it to type a number or perhaps it would just know that there are 110 little boxes behind it so now "I become 111" automatically.

it would have to follow suit in the event editors as well.

but yes...

So you do all your automation on a lane in the Playlist rather than per pattern?

If you weren't able to hear what the automation was doing at a given point in your song I'd sympathize with you more, but you can just select the area of your song you wanna work on in the Playlist and just work on your automation while it loops around your in/out points. I really don't see how this is stopping you from making music. But I'm not ragging on you for sure. I just don't see it as that big of a deal. Real composers just draw a line on paper and call it a measure. What happens inside the lines is what makes it 7/8, not a label at the top of the screen, imo.

just much better for organization thats all :)

its not even about hearing either. Let's say i want the tempo to gradually increase until measure 17. I want the tempo to hit exactly 127 at measure 17.... if i cant see it in the event editor, i cant really go anywhere with it...

and really its all skirting the fact that this is a capability that other sequencers and hosts find time to put in ;)

i dont see the big deal, really.

and hink, umm.. Its no excuse. I dont want an excuse not to use FL, I love the thing ;)
look up (you might need a telescope)....because that went right over your head, I think a lot does...there are two parts to effective communication...giving info and receiving info...obviously you don't have a good receiver there my friend...listen to what other people are saying, I know it's hard to believe, but yah might learn something if you open your ears and mind....fwiw I didn't mean in any way that it was a convenient excuse not to use FL...

sometimes I really wonder how committed people like you are...I mean really dude, when some of us were your age we had a lot more to figure out, we had to come up with many more work arounds....funny thing is, we did what we had to do to get it done....not wait for a developer that might just know what he's doing (at least he's proved it too me) to see it your way.

deal with it or move on :violin:

bla bla bla... hink, you can really be a jerk when you want to be.

I am listening very intently to try and work around this situation... unfortunately it doesnt seem to suit my workflow (EDIT: and know others who have complained about the same lack of feature on looptalk -- im warning any others who may want this functionality as well as accepting any advice i get as you can clearly see). So i MAY need to move on. Hink, why the hell dont YOU move on.

where would you like me to move on to Jason?

BTW I can't think of too many times I've wanted to be a jerk thank you very much, but nice try...every single thread about FL there is, we hear this from you... :?

Nothing will ever perfectly suit your workflow. This isnt mechanics where you can just take one of your tools and bend it to suit how you work, so you basically have to bite the bullet on this one. maybe look around, but you'll probably have the experience I've had and find yourself going right back to FL. Start with Ext if you do though.

Im just hoping someone will hear thats all :) squeaky wheel gets the grease man... but gol finally answered me, and thats all the notice i need to stop nagging. Now its either

1. find an acceptable workaround

or

2. find another host...

:) no problems man....

and im sorry hink, but i dont see it justified when you blast me for not listening... even on the FL forums im more than receptive to workarounds, but they just dont "work" for me!

--and as far as where for you to move on to -- i just wonder, why do you bother responding if you think its total crap?

but whatever...

no biggie.
