certainly rarely... and the whiner thing was a followed by a laugh -- it wasnt serious...

Nothing will ever perfectly suit your workflow. This isnt mechanics where you can just take one of your tools and bend it to suit how you work, so you basically have to bite the bullet on this one. maybe look around, but you'll probably have the experience I've had and find yourself going right back to FL. Start with Ext if you do though.
i know I cant bend it. But FL has been bent so many times already by ITS mechanic, Gol, I dont see why this one REQUESTED (not only by me) and obvious addition has been dismissed.

example of me after being told by gol not to bother, someone mentioned a possible workaround:

I am not sure what he was saying, but if he was alluding to a workaround, then i wanted to hear it!!!!

where would you like me to move on to Jason?

BTW I can't think of too many times I've wanted to be a jerk thank you very much, but nice try...every single thread about FL there is, we hear this from you... :?
Im just hoping someone will hear thats all :) squeaky wheel gets the grease man... but gol finally answered me, and thats all the notice i need to stop nagging. Now its either

1. find an acceptable workaround

or

2. find another host...

:) no problems man....

and im sorry hink, but i dont see it justified when you blast me for not listening... even on the FL forums im more than receptive to workarounds, but they just dont "work" for me!

--and as far as where for you to move on to -- i just wonder, why do you bother responding if you think its total crap?

but whatever...

no biggie.
there yah go
but they just dont "work" for me!
now read that a few times, think about how many satisfied users of FL, and also think about how many people are not satisfied with it...now think to yourself...is this a my problem...or ILs...I bother responding because I happen to like you and hate to see someone holding themselves back...sometimes "problems" are blessings in disguise....in fact I dare say that more often than not that is the case...it's funny how much I learn from "problems"...it's funny how much I learn from being wrong, it's all a matter of how you look at it....

Interestingly, I've already had this disussion, only a couple days ago:

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 00&start=0

I now see that JBM has OCD or something because what he wants is window dressing and the change would have no functional difference

Except that the "bars" would annoyingly be tied to a specific time sig, unlike now, when I can make 9-part polyrhythms like in the middle section of this song:

runagate__biggie_pearl__schiamacachinnations_509.mp3

...which would actually take FL backwards.

I've got a legal, unregistered copy of Ableton Live 4 I'll sell you for $175. You can upgrade to the brand spanking new 6.0 with it for $179 and download it right away. That's $145 cheaper than you can buy Live 6 for since it'll be around $500 in stores.

you like me????? I could hardly tell!!!!

i try to learn from my problems, i just friggin hate this shortcoming!!!! hehe... for instance, there was that beat a while back that i made that couldnt even FIT in FL.... some thread like, the beat that FL couldnt handle or something .... i come up with weird stuff, and i feel stifled when i cant use it easily.

I will think more on my position, wise one ;)

you are humble.

yes, indeed we went over this. I bring it up again because i got a definite answer from gol, figured it would be a good warning to those wondering about FL. And yes, we went over it, and we were talking about two different things. I invite anyone who wishes to read the thread in full. It says the same things....

EDIT: and yes, sighs all around, i promise not to bring this up anymore. I got my answer and its good enough for me. I stopped bringing up freeze in FL a LOOONG time ago

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... e&start=15

no functional difference? Of course not!!!! you wouldnt hear the difference, you would SEE it. It would be a GUI difference. indeed, it does matter what you see as well.

as far as bringing it backwards, the flp from your post shows exactly what i DONT want. as far as polyrythyms, you could still do it if you DONT insert a time sig change, it would act as FL always did... :dog:

I think you know better than that...;) I think I may have mentioned it before once or twice...but liking you and saying what you want to hear might not be the same :tu:

ive never tested live except for about 10 minutes and hated it right off the bat. I dont have the cash for it now anyway.

Perhaps in the future. I am already trying out tracktion, and reaper atm.

this is that other thread with the beat FL couldnt handle....

fandango wrote:Would be nice if the markers on the playlist could also change the signature too. (i.e., a bit like Tracktion, which I always thought was a nice implementation, you could drag the markers (and the signature) around... eXT has similar functionality.)

But just to get this straight:

You can do all sorts of time-signatures/time-signature changes with any host.

If the sequencer 'supports' it it mainly helps to visualize in a better way what you are doing. :)

nope - as has already been mentioned it's clearly and without any doubt in 17/8
yup 8)

now, the problem im running into is changing time sigs....

what i do is use the normal beat of 17 --- then when i want a 4/4 beat, i shorten the playlist to 16 steps-- this is 8 beats.

problem is, we get this:

the measures are all staggered until measure 22!!
Ildon wrote:Yep. Problem with FL is that if you run into issues with the tempo if you do anything other than x/4. That's why I said, keep it 4/4 and edit what's there. 17/8 is ah... hehehe...
Beardedone wrote:Fruity should be updated to do this just as most of the other major host do. Time sig changes are really easy in Sonar and I understand in Cubase. eXt and Live are able. My favorite for time and key changes is a proper scoring program like Overture. No guesswork there.
tuz wrote:
yeah didn't look at your beat in depth, just giving example with 9/8 cause that's what i know best. but yes, the playlist will get screwed up if you try to use multiple time sigs. for that i'd just adjust time sig to the most used and then manually adjust the placement of other time sig patterns. :)

Here's a file that proves it's easy
It's indeed very easy, and about the only reason the playlist was reworked in an older version (remember, patterns used to be fixed to bar alignment in an old version).

I don't understand him, not only you can move a pattern freely, but it easily snaps to beats. What else could be the reason to move patterns outside bar boundaries anyway? Is this nagging really just about the little digits in the time panel? And would manually inserting time sig changes [which would need to be bar unaligned btw] be any easier or quicker?
