Orion loads and uses all audio data in RAM. Sure if you're short on RAM system will use swap file. Other than that, no direct disk streaming for sampler or audio tracks.

I have never used or tried orion, but i was in some other thread which i cannot find and it mentioned that audio tracks in orion are only fed into RAM.

is this true?

Just want to weed out any potential ideas of trying hosts there is no point in trying

unfortunately this is the only thread that follows your paradigm exactly, and i dont want to bother installing a demo if i already saw the answer in another thread (what came in to question was if the allegation i read in the other thread was true).

and apparently i am not the only one that got caught up in misconception here. So i think honest discussion is nice to have regarding a host's features when deciding what your tool of choice is. Also, it may show up workarounds, or perhaps features from other hosts that may fulfill your creative needs better. After all, what else is kvr for?

I wasn't playing with semantics, I was simply using a term that once upon a time [but apparantly no longer] was commonly used to describe Cubase, Logic and Sonar. Even if you weren't familiar with th eterm, my meaning should have been completely obvious from the context. It was you and others who decided to take it and start playing semantics with it.

If ORION needs defending, and it often does, its from people who want it to become soemthing that it was never designed to be or, more importantly, something that would be less useful to me. I am compltely aware that my defence of it probably has a negative effect on sales. I don't care, as long as it remains useful to me. So I am defending my own, selfish needs - possibly at the expense of the product. Surely that difference is completely obvious and an easy distinction to make, especially in this particular instance?
