Stefan:
You're absolutely right, it was an idea for something after the competition since there's no way I'd have the time to do it now. New featureset, new gui, new presets and so on.

Ben:
That sounds fair to me and that gives the devs a few days to work out problems with the plugins making sure they're in top shape for the actual voting.

I will try to explain my point of view with my bad english:

You have to take a train at the last moment for a important meeting. Imagine you miss the train?

You have to compose a music for a film with a deadline. Imagine you have not finish? ---> your out of job, and the production will never call you again!

You have to do , or to tell something to someone before you die. ---> After death, there is death.

So...why we should not apply theses rules to the competition? Deadline is deadline. Really want you to back to the past?

I've messaged tuz about this update - here it is, you can get it before it updated on the downloads page:

http://mst.metabin.com/free/MST_VS-1000R.rar

I've fixed the problems with the top of the vector being difficult to grab (a label was in the way!) and the low volumes, i've updated the patches to be much louder by modulating the volume with the velocity.

Moody33:
Well you're right, but this isn't a competition about life and death. Not as I see it anyway. It's a fun way for developers to match their skills and ideas against eachother and an opportunity to show the music business what freeware is all about.

Releasing a bunch of updates doesn't really benefit the developer. Alot of people already seem to have made up their mind on who to vote for meaning a badly optimized or crashing piece of software is going to be all that voter ever saw.

And hey, we're all learning. For next year perhaps an update weekend of three days should be added to the rules. A sneak preview for forum regulars that give the developers a chance to polish their entries. Cause in the end it's all about making some fun stuff and giving it away for free, isn't it?

Ben [KVR] wrote:Once voting starts tomorrow I don't plan to update any of the files on KVR until the contest is over.

Any bug fix updates should be got to me or Tuz before lunch time GMT Wednesday to get uploaded here.
That sounds a good solution - a level playing field was all I wanted.

I've just updated VideoVST (again), MASB, Repeatler, Drive5, Lunchbox Battle and MST VS-1000R...

Did any of you bother beat testing? :hihi:

I did, but it's the problem of not owning enough hosts. or knowing enough ppl that you can trust for the betatesting. Sorry about the extra work Ben.

Ben, you'll have the updated Grizzly in an hour. Just got word from one of the people that were having problems that it's now been solved, need to put the presets back in place though. Hell is SynthEdit ;)

Thanks Ben.

And beat testing sounds like an interesting concept for a drum computer :hihi:

I was working a drum VST a while back to be called Beta.. I might tart it up and release it via BetaBugs, and call it BugBeta..

The update is all done:
http://www.majken.se/vst/download/grizzly.exe

It includes alot of changes which all have to do with removing bits and pieces. So there's less stuff but it should work alot better. Nothing new was added although we had to change the interface a bit since parts of the modulation section was removed.

Oh, and there wasn't enough time to re-edit all the presets into it. We'll just have to do it later on.

Anyway, have fun.. hope you like the improvements and good luck to everyone now that the voting is active :)

Ben:

Here's a couple of updated images to go with it:

I've uploaded this update.

Post

Anyway here's a small change/fixlist:

* Internal optimizations reducing cpu and memory
* Four trigger modulation sources removed
* Step sequencer modulation sources removed
* FX1 exchanged with a simple filter section
* GUI optimizations to reduce memory load
* GUI size reduced
* Manual updated

Overall Grizzly should now be quicker to load, easier on the cpu and memory, the GUI should feel more responsive. Hosts that previously were unable to load the plugin or reload projects using one or more instances of Grizzly should no longer have this problem. There's also now almost no delay when switching presets.

The installer has also been patched and should have a higher chance of properly installing the font needed for the plugin.
