Hi,
I made a patch [that I like finally!) and then went to the "Perform" window and entered a name for one of the Xy things....

now zebra is stuck with the text input window open. I cannot exit this windoww

[esc] , nor any other button exits this window. I can add text...but not close the window.

Please help! I dont want to lose my nice sound....

Im using the Latest Z2 in Live 6 on a Mac 10.4.6

Thanks
Royalston

just making sure (you didn't mention it)- did you click on the OK?

Post

the ok?
I didnt see that

it just said something like:
Press {esc} to close text input...

Post

when i double-click on the name bit to rename it, the window pops up with a text box, and OK/Cancel buttons. click on the OK and the box closes and your XY box is named!
i'm on pc by the way - might behave slightly differently on mac..

Urs?

On the Mac, the text underneath the name box says "Press [esc] to enter", so the escape key acts as an enter/exit button.

Oh... it's yet another problem with Live 6. They are intercepting the escape key.

Can you save the patch from within Live?

Can you just close Zebra's gui and reopen it?

Is there an option from within Live to allow vst's to recieve keyboard strokes like there is in Nuendo?

Post

Solution (workaround):

Type in either a " ' " (i.e. accent) or a " ^ " (i.e. the key directly below the "esc" key - on German keyboards at least),
then you can close the text entry field with the "esc" key.

Yes, you can open a VST plugin in a non-floating window when you hold Shift while opening the plugin editor.
For AUs this should normaly work as well, but it's a not yet fixed bug that opening a plugin editor with Shift hold will open the standard sliders interface instead.

In Live 6, under os 10.4.7, I found that if you enter some text and then use the <Clear> key on the standard Mac numeric keypad, that closes the window like you want. On my mac, in live 6, the escape key doesn't work on the text popup.

if you have the text box open and cannot close it, you can close the GUI in Live 6 open it again and the text box will be closed, however nothing you wrote in there will be retained. At least it is not stuck.

I filed this as a bug with Ableton and they know about it. I had filed it during the beta cycle, but I did not see a response from one Abletonian trying to understand the bug, so I have since told them it is still a problem, which was acknowleged and I guess it will be fixed in the next 6.0.x bug update.
